Position: Coordinator/Medical Office Nursing

UNC Family Medicine at Apex is seeking a high energy, professional Registered Nurse/Coordinator to join our team who will possess a positive 'can-do' attitude, excellent verbal communication, teamwork, and strong customer service skills. Our team is looking to bring on nurses who have a genuine interest in providing excellent patient care, while taking the initiative to streamline processes and tasks to improve outcomes and efficiency.

The essential duties and responsibilities of a Medical Office Coordinator include:

  • Supporting patient safety initiatives by maintaining an environment of safety for patients, self and others

  • Providing direct patient care while maintaining current skills and competencies required of the other Registered Nurses in the department

  • Identifying, coordinating, and conducting ongoing continuing education programs for the staff and organizing an annual competency fair

  • Coordinating clinical care and patient flow activities while ensuring that the care/service delivered to each patient is appropriate and in accordance with the physician's orders, departmental policies and in consideration of the patient's safety needs

  • Documenting any care provided in the patient's record

  • Assisting with the evaluation of the quality of the care/services provided, identifying any areas that need improvement and making the appropriate recommendations to address any quality deficiencies

  • Assisting in addressing any patient issues/complaints related to the care/services received

  • Participating in performance and quality improvement activities

  • Serving as the chair person for quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives

  • Assisting in and assigning responsibility for the PI data collection on a monthly basis

  • Maintaining an adequate inventory of clinical supplies and equipment and assisting with adherence to the budget, cost containment and product selection

  • Serving as a clinical and management resource for decision-making, problem solving and employee performance reviews

  • Serving as a liaison between the staff, physicians and the director

  • Preparing clinical staff time schedules, ensuring adequate staffing of the unit and providing assistance in covering staff absences

  • Assisting the manager as a time keeper for the unit

  • Advising the medical staff and the director about matters related to patient care and operations of the department

  • Serving as a role model to other staff in the unit

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of an orientation plan for new staff

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures and ensuring that the clinical nursing staff is adhering to all of these policies and procedures. This includes JCAHO, OSHA and other regulatory standards

  • Establishing, maintaining and evaluating protocols, policies and procedures in conjunction with the physician staff

  • Recognizing, supporting, and utilizing evidence based nursing practices and adhering to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics

Other duties may be assigned.

Candidate is required to have a Diploma, an Associate's degree (A.A.) or a Bachelor's degree (BSN), have a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification and be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina (RN NC LIC).

Candidate is also required to have two (2) years of nursing experience with at least one (1) of those years in a medical office or outpatient setting.

It is preferred that the candidate have previous supervisory experience and clinical experience.

VIEW JOBS 8/27/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-25T00:00 The UNC Rex Urgent Care of Apex will be opening July 8, 2019. This is a Casual position to work 12 hours/week. Location: 1335 W. Williams Street, Apex, NC Training prior to opening will be located at one of our other Urgent Care locations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities are as follows. Other duties may be assigned. * Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others. * Plans and organizes patient care in clinics. Escorts patient to their destination(s); obtains and records vital signs and medical histories. Prepares patients for exams and procedures. * Notifies patients of diagnostic test results via phone or in writing as directed by the physician/provider. * Provides phlebotomy services. Performs tests including, but not limited to: EKGs and basic laboratory tests. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens. Prepares and administers medications following doctor's orders and clinic policy. Observes patient for adverse reactions and documents appropriately. Authorizes drug refills as directed. * Reinforces patient education with full consideration of patient safety needs. * Performs sterilization of medical supplies. Changes sterile, non-sterile dressings, and removes sutures/staples. * Cleans, organizes, and maintains examination rooms, work area and other assigned areas. * Performs office duties including inventory, and ordering supplies. May perform other clerical duties related to clinical activities. * Participates in unit performance improvement activities.
