Job Description:

Working with department manager, the RN - Coordinator I provides leadership and clinical expertise on their respective shift and department. They are accountable for coordination of unit resources to ensure that staffing to census and acuity is appropriate both clinically and financially. They function as clinical support for staff and are a role model of competency and professionalism.

Assess:

Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative and developmental skills as appropriate).

Seeks and evaluates information acquired from other members of interdisciplinary team: patient, family, physician, non-nursing disciplines, support staff, others.

Plan:

Uses assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop individualized plan of care.

Actively seeks patient, family, team, and physician involvement to develop plan of care including needed education.

Collaboratively plans and prepares patients for further support needs once the current episode of care outcomes are met (i.e., teaching, referrals, and follow-up).

Implement:

Directs the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration.

Provides or delegates care consistent with plan of care, guidelines of care, and professional licensure provisions.

Demonstrates the ability to set priorities and to coordinate and organize patient care delivery through managing time, supplies, and resources.

Evaluate:

Evaluates patient response to interventions through review of achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, and patient and family satisfaction.

Revises plan of care as indicated and reassesses changes as appropriate.

Professionalism:

Models professional behavior exemplifying Intermountain Values, Healing Commitments, and a culture of safety. Holds staff accountable for the same.

Promotes nursing professionalism. Coaches and develops others.

Integrates legal and ethical standards into practice: complies with regulatory standards, practices within scope of licensure, provides accurate & timely documentation, and understands legal implications of care delivery.

Staffing:

Projects staffing needs for current and following shift and department to provide optimal patient care.

Ensures appropriate nurse to patient ratios by matching staffing skill levels to patient needs and acuity.

Ensures cost-effective use of staff including appropriately managing premium pay and overtime usage.

Ensures and allocates appropriate resources for department needs.

Patient Flow:

Forecasts and communicates accurate information on admission, discharge, and transfer to ensure appropriate patient placement.

Communicates with appropriate care givers on complex and challenging patients to facilitate coordination of care.

Assists staff members with direct patient care as needed.

Leadership Job Essentials:

Accountable for operational and clinical leadership of the unit or department including setting clear expectations and holding staff accountable for outcomes and behaviors.

Mediates conflicts between staff, families, physicians, and other departments using the Healing Commitments and behaviors.

Ensures a safe environment for employees, patients, and visitors.

Mentors and evaluates staff for professional and clinical development needs and opportunities. Acts as a resource for setting clear expectations related to hourly rounds, communication boards, and joint bedside report.

Guides others and initiates conversations using appropriate tools to resolve problems and to encourage accountability and professional growth.

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, conducts performance reviews for applicable staff.

Takes initiative to identify needs and improve the work environment.

Responsible for delegated managerial accountabilities including possible oversight of programs and processes.

Supports and enforces Intermountain and unit policies and procedures to ensure safety, quality, compliance, and patient care.

Activates chain of command, rapid response, or code alerts when appropriate to facilitate patient and staff safety.

Actively participates in and facilitates continuous quality improvement in areas of clinical care, service experience, and operational effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

Current RN License in state of practice.

  • and -

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

  • and -

Unit Specific Certification as required (i.e., ACLS, PALS, etc.).

One year of clinical nursing experience.

  • and -

Experience in assigned clinical area.

  • and -

Mentoring experience.

  • and -

Basic computer skills.

  • and -

Bachelor's degree in nursing required or willing to obtain by June 2022. Note: Anyone hired or promoted into R.14 grade on or after July 1, 2017 must obtain their BSN degree on or before June 1, 2022. After that date in June 2022, all future promotions to grade R14 will require a BSN.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Leadership experience.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

  • and -

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

  • and -

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

  • and -

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

  • and -

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

  • and -

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

VIEW JOBS 9/24/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-12-23T00:00 <p>Job Description:</p><p>This Registered Nurse (RN) position will be working part time, 30 hours/week, in the Endoscopy department at St. George Regional Hospital.</p><p>This is a great opportunity for RNs looking for day shifts, and working in a great department that has a fun and engaging culture. We are looking for RNs who are dependable, motivated, can critically think, and excited to learn.</p><p>We currently run 2 procedure rooms daily, with a third room for afternoon add-ons. Starting in 2023, we will be up to 3 procedure rooms full time. Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics. We are a procedural unit where RNs will be part of the pre, intra, and post procedure care of our patients.</p><p>Shift Details: Full time, 30 hours/week. Four, 10-hour shifts Monday-Friday. Call 1 night a week, 1 weekend every 6-weeks, and 2 holiday call per year.</p><p>Minimum Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>Current RN License in state of practice.</p></li><li><p>Basic Life Support (BLS)</p></li><li><p>Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)</p></li><li><p>Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)</p></li><li><p>Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.</p></li><li><p>Basic computer skills.</p></li><li><p>RNs hired on or after January 1, 2021 who have 12 months or less of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN degree within 5 years.</p></li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
