Under general direction of the Education Director, the incumbent is assigned to provide clinical staff with education and training. This position works primarily with one clinical unit but may provide training and education assistance or oversight of other departments and programs as assigned by the Director. This position will also maintain a float area to that primary clinical unit and be scheduled regular shifts on the unit(s) as a clinical nurse. These hours may fluctuate based on education and the unit needs.

What You Will Do:
Primary responsibilities include:
Providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, and leader.
Evaluating skill, knowledge and performance levels for new and advancing staff.
Preparing staff for current practice and supports them in acquiring the knowledge and skills they need to competently provide care.
Ensuring that educational programs/activities are consistent with regulatory requirements and standard of care established by licensing and accrediting bodies and professional organizations.
Coordinating the development and tracking of educational/safety programs for the organization.
Providing ongoing evaluation of new staff in collaboration with clinical directors.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Preferred Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Masters of Science in Nursing.
Experience: Three (3) years current nursing care experience.
Preference: Experience specific to the position's assigned unit(s) is preferred (*Examples include Critical Care, Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, Operation Room, etc).
License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse License.
Certifications: Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse License. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), OR Neonatal Resuscitation, (NRP) Provider Certification.
