Responsibilities & Requirements
The Stroke Coordinator participates in the development and review of the stroke program design (protocols, policies, procedures and education). He/She works with members of the healthcare team to ensure coordination of patient care through the development and use of clinical protocols.
The Coordinator validates that specific patient outcomes are achieved and variances from established and accepted parameters are documented, evaluated, and addressed as necessary.
He/She understands the national and local impact and incidence of stroke and acts as a catalyst for ensuring that the organization takes a leadership role in improving outcomes for the stroke patient and providing education to the community
Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ACEN or CCNE) if they are a new graduate nurse
Bachelor's Degree required
Current BLS required
National certification in the specialty of stroke or neuroscience is preferred
Participation in appropriate continuing education courses
Membership in appropriate organizations (National Stroke Institute, American Heart/Stroke Association, Stroke Advocacy Network) upon hire into the position
