As a pivotal partner within the health care delivery team, the Registered Nurse will ensure the delivery of quality patient care, both individually as well as through leadership and delegation to other team members. The Perioperative RN understands and adheres to the standards and recommended practices of applicable professional organizations. She/he constantly guards, protects, and provides the patient with advocacy during all procedures. She/he acts as mentor/instructor and specialty resource. She/he is highly motivated, specialized, and professional in responding to all situations. The Perioperative RN Clinical Coordinator provides leadership and oversight of processes, supplies, and staff related to a surgical specialty.

Education and Experience.

  • The employee shall comply with all safety and health standards, and all rules, regulations, and orders which are applicable to the individual's own position, actions, and conduct.

  • Performs duties and responsibilities within the scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as defined by the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act and Wyoming Medical Center policies and procedures.

  • Performs the full range of duties and responsibilities as described in the WMC Registered Nurse job description, which are hereby incorporated by reference.

  • Serves as liaison with other departments as they pertain to assigned areas and responsibilities.

  • Collaborates with other departments in the accomplishment of interdepartmental goals.

  • Participates in short and long term planning for assigned department. Participates in departmental goal setting.

  • Demonstrates understanding of department standards, policies and procedures, and communicates them consistently and effectively to personnel. Participates in the review and revision of policies and procedures.

  • Effectively monitors assigned areas for compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and standards (e.g. The Joint Commission, the Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), etc.).

  • Is accountable for cost-effective utilization of resources, including staffing, time management and supplies. Seeks opportunities to improve effective and fiscally responsible use of resources.

  • Oversees and approves schedules to assure appropriate staffing and time utilization. Monitors overtime, time and attendance, and cross-training. Manages scheduling adjustments as needed to adapt to census levels.

  • Collaborates with Manager and assigned departmental educator to assess learning needs and to plan and provide for the educational needs of all staff disciplines within department.

  • Collaborates with Manager and departmental educator to measure and document individual employee performance against established performance criteria and standards.

  • Regularly consults with Manager and Director to keep them informed of activities, needs and supervisory problems.

  • Maintains full clinically capability to perform procedures within assigned areas.

  • Ensures overall accountability for department staff and operations.

  • Coordinates preceptorship/mentoring of new staff in assigned areas. Acts as a resource and educator for the department.

  • Works with leadership to develop and achieve optimal patient outcomes.

  • Maintains Code of Ethics within practice.

  • Assures appropriate reporting of occurrences according to WMC Risk Management guidelines.

  • Consistently practices patient safety behaviors and oversees department staff and functions to ensure patient safety at all times.

  • As assigned by Manager, participates in preparation and delivery of performance evaluations for department staff.

  • Performs other duties as required or delegated.

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-05T00:00 The Clinical Educator RN facilitates the tactical activities involved in the planning, design, preparation and delivery of clinical training and development programs that support the Wyoming Medical Center's (WMC) mission, values and strategic plan, national and state practice standards, and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Educator RN collaborates with the Director of Education to evaluate organizational needs to develop and direct programs for improved organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, learning, development, and growth. Training programs include but not limited to the following: staff training, orientation, nurse residency program, leadership development, and organization development. The Clinical Educator RN will work with subject matter experts in designing and delivering skills-based training, technical and operational training. In addition, develops and/or approves content, methods, and materials for designated in-house trainers. By partnering and consulting with internal clients and HR partners, this individual will apply solutions which assist departments and the organization in optimizing and delivering WMC's mission. * The employee shall comply with all safety and health standards, and all rules, regulations, and orders which are applicable to the individual's own position, actions, and conduct. * Administers, organizes and conducts training and educational programs in connection with Director of Education and other members of the Center for Learning and Performance team. * Identifies training needs and develops curricula. * Provides continuing development and on-the-job training to employees, with emphasis on clinical education. * Participates in the development of new employee through Onboarding orientation. Cross trains to teach all classes offered. * Maintains records of training and employee progress, and monitors effectiveness of programs. * Develops and maintains records of competencies for employee education profiles. * Aids in the design and development of in-house education programs. * Maintains training and development of continuing education materials. * Develops schedules and arranges rooms for classes. * Works with the Community Training Center to ensure smooth delivery of services. * Works with department-based education resources and with patient care facilitators to deliver quality patient education. * Collaborates with organizational leaders for improvements in the performance of quality metrics related to nationally recognized organizations such as Joint Commission, Leapfrog, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and other measures related to the prevention of complications of care, including adherence to national patient safety goals, prevention of falls and pressure ulcers, achieves departmental and organizational strategic goals, actively improves patient satisfaction, facilitates the prevention of infections, and decreases in Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI), Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), and Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) incidence as related to job responsibilities. * Collaborates with organizational leaders for and facilitates actions with staff to reduce incidences of falls and pressure ulcers. * Ensures compliance with Hand washing Adherence Initiatives (HAI).Supports strategies to increase the percentage of overall patient satisfaction; services scores for unit is in top box. * Accountable for successful achievement of organizational goals. * Successfully completes all training and demonstrates competency in role. * Performs other duties as assigned.
