The RN-Clinical Analyst assists with the collection and analysis of performance improvement data, and coordinates core measure and registry abstraction and data submission. Participates in quality improvement, clinical care processes and outcomes, regulatory, accreditation, and patient health care initiatives.

License /Certification

Required: CA RN license

Education

Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN-BSN program

Experience

Required: Experience with facilitation of group process

Preferred: Experience using CQI tools and principles

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Department Specific Requirements

If assigned to Quality and Patient Safety: requires a minimum of three years RN experience. Must have experience with data management and the knowledge to use PC-based information management systems and databases.

Essential

Applies quality improvement methods (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Check-Act, etc) to facilitate quality improvement teams to achieve successful outcomes.

Uses a range of quality improvement tools and techniques (eg. 5 whys, process mapping, failure mode effects analysis & root cause analysis) to evaluate processes; applies appropriate tools to current projects.

Synthesizes information from relevant resources (eg. Electronic health records, registries, external databases, comparative and benchmark data and published research) to demonstrate current practice and identify opportunities for improvement.

Communicates quality improvement priorities and results using narrative and visual tools (eg. Graphs, dashboards, scorecards) appropriate to the audience.

Demonstrates effective project management skills. Utilizes change management principals to get results.

When facilitating quality teams, manages the work defined in the project charter/project plan/scope to ensure the project moves forward according to the project plan goals and timelines. Maintains project plans/records such that they serve as an archive of project results.

Develops and maintains positive collaborative working relationships with other departments, Kaweah Health leadership and medical staff in an effort to identify and address quality improvement opportunities.

Communicates promptly and effectively; establishes and maintains effective methods for keeping others informed and involved (eg. Director, medical director, & committees). Written reports and presentations reflect effective written communication skills.

Develops and delivers effective oral presentations. Ensures absolute confidentiality of information, communicating only to appropriate staff.

Addendum (essential for specific dept)

IF ASSIGNED TO QUALITY AND PATIENT SAFETY DEPARTMENT ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR: Actively participates in the review of event reports and participates (as requested) in the investigation of any significant patient safety, near miss and sentinel event including root cause analysis.

Effectively facilitates the Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program (CUSP) teams including pre-work, implementation, and sustaining the team; provides guidance on using tools and measurement strategies. Assists the Director with the preparation and readiness for The Joint Commission (TJC) and regulatory surveys. Assist in planning, coordinating and performance of mock surveys, self-assessments for the annual TJC periodic performance review In survey years actively participates in the survey process including surveyor escort/scribe and TJC survey follow up activities including collecting and monitoring of compliance activities for the Evidence of Standards Compliance. Coordinates, develops and delivers in-service training and educational sessions related to improving the culture of safety based on the organization's culture of safety survey results at the direction of the department Director.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$47.35 -$71.03
