POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse as a Cardiac Catheterization Nurse performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients. Meets Standards of Care and Standards of Practice.

Supervises assigned personnel. Promotes collaboration with physicians and personnel of other departments. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served.

Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over life span and possesses ability to assess patient requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provides care needed as described in department policies and procedure. Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of employment. Provide nursing skills to Medical Imaging Specialists including but not limited to special procedures, cardiac catheterization, and stress cardiology studies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.

  • Basic knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology and hemodynamics.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an acute care facility.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nevada required.

  • Must be BLS certified

  • Must be ALCS certified

  • CCRN preferred

Job Requirements :: Minimum Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and completion of a Specialty course/ or equivalent. BSN preferred. Experience 1 - 2 year acute care experience or successful completion of an approved specialty course. Technical Skills 0 License/Certification Current RN license in the State of Nevada. Current BLS Certification. Current ACLS Certification (adult patients), current PALS Certification (pediatric patients) or current NRP Certification (Neonatal patients). Other certification as may be required by facility, specialty or department. Other Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department. Note An RN graduate is a nurse who has completed a course of study at a school of nursing and is eligible for the NCLEX. The RN graduate performs directly under the supervision of the Charge Nurse or RN designee. An interim RN license must be granted by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
