Overview
The Electrophysiology (EP) Device Registered Nurse (RN) I plays a crucial role in the care of adult patients throughout the Cone Health system, including Cone Health Medical Group, Alamance Regional Hospital and Moses Cone Hospital departments. This role provides direct and remote cardiac monitoring of pacemakers, defibrillators, implantable loop recorders, etc.
Through close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of electrophysiologists, APPs, referring physicians, schedulers and other key team members in the hospitals and practices, this role ensures that patient care adheres to established protocols and quality standards. The EP Device RN I serves as a catalyst for optimal patient care and operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities
Advises and assists staff responsible for maintaining device database, patient charts, schedules, and supplies to facilitate provider performance of invasive in office procedures.--------------------------------------------------Performs clinic and remote device interrogations, interpretation, and programming of pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD), Implantable Loop Recorders (ILR), and Cardiac Resynchronization (CRT) devices for a complex diverse patient population according to established protocols under the supervision of a physician.--------------------------------------------------Coordinates participation of industry reps and prepares standardized remote reports for supporting multiple industry devices (BioTronik, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and St. Jude) provider review, interpretation and arranges appropriate follow up.--------------------------------------------------Identifies and manages appropriate therapy for basic and complex arrhythmias, device malfunctions, and device related regulatory issues using standard protocols.
These include advisories, safety notifications, recalls, device tracking, and ensuring recent transmissions are received from all patients with devices. --------------------------------------------------Educates patients and families regarding device function, clinic follow-up scheduling, device home monitoring, and completes requests for refills, labs and tests, if required.--------------------------------------------------Manages and facilitates device clinic which includes post-operative education, wound assessment/care, assessing and identifying any complications with new operative sites. --------------------------------------------------Requests, maintains, reviews patient records, results, and enrolls new patients and transfers device data into appropriate remote monitoring site. Receives and interprets implanted device alerts and reports abnormal findings to providers as necessary.--------------------------------------------------Works with physicians, leaders, and colleagues to develop and implement policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and daily device clinic operations. Mentors new staff members regarding policies and procedures.--------------------------------------------------
