River Shop Specialist - Concession

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for delivering superior customer service, managing inventory, and processing transactions accurately in a fast-paced retail environment. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The specialist will maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization across all retail locations, including the café and concession areas, and support the overall activities of the River Shop.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing excellent customer service to customer in store, via phone or online.

• Great customers promptly and professionally.

• Use proper etiquette when speaking with customers, in person, via phone, or email.

• Inventory control of merchandise to be monitored and accounted for as assigned.

• Handling customer transactions at POS register in an efficient manner as assigned:

• Maintaining a high level of accuracy regarding transactions of cash, checks, credit cards and accounts.

• Performing effectively under pressure /stressful situations, during peak periods, buybacks and other IRSC events.

• Keeping store/booth appearance to high standards of cleanliness and organization.

• Maintaining all retail locations, space, concession booths and tent areas;

• Keeping the retail, café, and concession locations and surrounding areas clean, equipment and serving areas properly sanitized (comply with all Health and Safety Serve Safe Requirements).

• Following all recipes and serving instructions as required and according to established protocol.

• Keeping the café, and concessions areas stocked with necessary components; i.e. cups, lids, napkins, utensils, syrups, sauces, coffees, food items etc.;

• Following Café' and Concession stand best practices on times and temperatures.

• Processing receipts and other data into the computer system (Prism).

• Closing Cashier POS Sessions and balancing drawers as assigned.

• Balancing and entering deposits as assigned. Practicing proper safe operations and cash handling of funds for concession events.

• Completing filing and other basic clerical responsibilities.

• Completing other duties and responsibilities assigned by River Shop Management/Supervisor Team and the Director of Bookstore Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications and skills for this position include:

• Proven work experience in cashiering; retail and/or food service experience is preferred.

• Proven computer experience in Microsoft Office to include data input experience.

• Strong business aptitude.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent Customer Service Skills.

• Basic clerical skills to include typing, word processing, and filing.

• Good organizational skills and basic accounting skills.

• Ability to be detailed orientated and perform accurately under pressure.

• Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated.

• Professional demeanor.

• As this position requires direct contact with College Administrators, Faculty, Staff, Students and the general public on a regular basis, the ability to interact effectively with all types of individuals via telephone, email, and in-person is extremely important.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of thirty (30) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
