Zions Bancorp has just opened an opportunity for a Risk Officer

  • Risk Management Governance. The position is located in Salt Lake City, UT and offers a 3/2 hybrid work schedule.

The Risk Officer

  • Risk Management Governance is an essential role in the Enterprise Risk Management team that requires an executive presence supported by solid communication skills to interact with executive management stakeholders across the organization. This position will have diverse duties in the Risk Management Governance including taking minutes, ensuring quality committee materials, and ensuring efficient committee calendars. Other duties include overseeing governance groups (e.g., committees, councils) and supporting governance documentation processes. This highly visible position requires a positive working relationship with senior executives and board members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure committee material content is meaningful, consistent, and easy to understand.

  • Record accurate and sufficient committee meeting minutes.

  • Enhance risk management committee practices.

  • Monitor compliance with committee charter requirements.

  • Conduct governance groups oversight activities

  • Perform governance reviews (editing) of governance documents prior to necessary approvals.

  • Monitor and report on the status of governance groups throughout their lifecycles.

  • Provide reports on the status of risk management governance activities to management and executives.

  • Support the implementation and administration of strong risk governance across the enterprise.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize and increase company-wide awareness of exam and governance processes.

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, particularly a strong ability to communicate with senior executives.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills and working collaboratively with others.

  • Ability to pay close attention to details and nuances.

  • Effective project management, organizational, analytical, and problem resolutions skills.

  • Understand and be aware of banking laws and regulations, industry issues, themes, and trends.

  • Results-oriented and can work independently to meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Office.

  • Knowledge and experience with risk governance principles.

  • Ability to anticipate the needs of users and be flexible to adjust to those needs.

Job Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, English, or related field (master's degree preferred).

  • Advanced experience handling competing priorities and communicating expectations clearly.

  • 4+ years governance, document management, analytical or other directly related experience, preferably in the financial services industry (combination of education and experience may meet this requirement).

  • Knowledge and experience in enterprise risk, preferably in the financial services industry.

  • Advanced project management and process improvement experience.

  • Knowledge of various bank/government regulatory requirements and processes.

  • Ability to build strong relationships throughout the Bank, working with various stakeholders.

  • Experience presenting information to senior management/boards of directions.
