Compensation Range: $22 - $27/Hour

  • Range(s) - DOE

PURPOSE

The Risk Management Specialist will be responsible for the administration and management of the handling of claims from start to finish, including compiling, reviewing, and submitting accident reports, preparing and maintaining insurance claim forms, and maintaining files and records.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and manage timely internal notification, reporting and investigation of claims (Workers Comp, General Liability, Auto and Property etc.)

  • Guidance and recommendations shall include the appropriate medical management /treatment plan, timely return to work/compliance with light duty accommodations, analysis of potential credits and/or subrogation opportunities, expense cost review, and the optimal case resolution

  • Monitor and maintain records for lost workdays and/or modified duty and return to work initiatives.

  • Follow up weekly on doctor's work status reports and verify work restrictions can be accommodated

  • Investigate claims timely and obtain proper paperwork.

  • Review/Revise/Supplement the Settlement Authorization Forms prepared and submitted by the assigned claims adjuster for claims to provide settlement or optimal case resolution recommendations

  • Directs third-party claims adjusters in the investigation and management of claims, supports defense counsel, and makes determinations on claims management, resolution and settlement - with assistance from the Director of Risk Management

  • Evaluate, recommend, and obtain denial or settlement authorization

  • Administer all claims of insurance programs with the objective to reduce the cost through prevention, proactive management, employee awareness and participation

  • Maintain Medical Provider Network (MPN) Clinic listing

  • Identifies, develops, and implements safety policies, procedures, programs and strategies and drives initiatives across the company to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with local, state and federal ADA and OSHA requirements

  • Respond to WC Subpoenas timely

  • Assists and/ or completes additional tasks as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish strongly desired

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and implementation of Cal-OSHA, OSHA and safety programs

  • Ability to apply good judgment when responding to officials and investigating safety issues

  • Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiatives

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to partner with others to achieve results

  • Ability to present solutions effectively and influence decisions at all levels of the organization

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire others to change behaviors and follow his/her lead

  • Excellent organization and time management skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to travel as required for meeting position objectives, including overnight stays and airline travel when applicable

  • Experience in restaurant/hospitality industry preferred

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

  • 21+years of age
