ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Position Summary

Supports the maintenance of the Office of General Counsel (OGC) Information System in addition to other systems supported by RMIS. Provides analytical and technical support to the OGC Division and other key stakeholders as identified.

This includes implementation experience, system improvement projects and daily operational support for the various OGC applications within ECU Health. Supports RMIS upgrades, patches, testing other technical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the oversight and development of Information Systems in ECU Health OGC. Works with OGC team members to gain an understanding of new department technology and implementation needs.

    This includes new equipment and technology, online testing, reviewing vendor software releases, and offers feedback and comments in the decision making process as to new or enhanced software. Assist in the performance of routine data base maintenance, such as defining new test codes, workload values, worksheets, workstations, normal ranges, user passwords, tech codes and calculations. Testing and documentation of all new or updated software features within the computer system testing area; software is then moved to the production area of the system and documented testing to certify it meets agency requirements. Assist in all database maintenance related to interfaces, as well as, troubleshooting and researching related problems.

  • Addresses and analyzes issues and projects relevant to the OGC division. Uses a proactive approach in identification and prevention of potential problems or issues.

    Assists with updating the Department and IS Procedure and Operations training manuals, troubleshooting and problem resolution of all hardware. Provide personal computer support to team members. Audits data within system and works with users in the system for correct data.

  • Assists with the development, implementation, maintenance, and long-range plans for computer applications and programs directly related to Risk Management, Insurance, Legal and policies/procedures. Assists with acceptance testing of OGC Systems, building profiles, developing protocols and procedures, and performing database maintenance.

    Works with team members to gain understanding of new technology and implementation needs.

    Tests and documents upgrades to systems. Schedules and produces user requested reports from data extracted from the system to compile the requested data and reports.

    When implementing new applications assists in coordination of training and writing procedures for the technical and support team members of the Department. Provides technical support and troubleshooting as necessary throughout the division and system.

  • Assists with education, training and Quality Improvement. Implements new software, helps provide training in the proper use and works with the technical team members to assure maximum benefit is gained from the implementation.

    Assists in teaching other users on the extraction of data from the department information system in order to compile reports not available with current software. Helps to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation bodies. Monitors present and evolving technologies and trends and makes recommendations. Functions as an additional resource for quality improvement in services and systems as a resource for technician and analyst OGC team members.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree is preferred- or higher.
  • 3 - 4 years experience is required.
