The Risk Management Intern provides analysis of Safety, Claims, Security & Insurance related processes and procedures. Compiles information from Federal and State agencies as well as from our driver fleet, warehouse, maintenance and field-based associates and locations to help identify opportunity areas and develop corrective action plans. The position will rotate among the Enterprise Risk Management Department and will be responsible for participating in various duties in the claims, safety, security and insurance functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Submits weekly and monthly Safety statistics to operation and senior management electronically.
Educates drivers and NFI personnel on Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)regulations
Monitors the Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) web site to record new roadside activity of our fleet.
Submits DATAQs pertaining to roadside inspections which need correction to the States
Receives citations from our fleet and records them in the safety database
Produces monthly fine report for operation
Reviews and audits driver logs and completes management reports for HOS violation corrections
Driver Qualification file auditing
Analyzing Behavioral Based Safety reports and statistics
Assisting in compiling site Safety Standard Review corrective actions
Participating with the claims collection, payment and tracking process
Cross train with all areas to provide coverage for PTO
Job Related & Physical Requirements:
Ability to analyze data and determine corrective action
Coordinate payment of fines in a timely manner
Gather operation, road and law facts to dispute fines and violations which were incorrectly charged against NFI
Ability to submit reports, payments and responses via email and internet portals to Federal and State agencies.
Flexibility to work irregular hours to meet demand of time changes by region of country
Requirements:
Current Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree
Computer applications using MS Office
Willingness to travel
Experience in transportation preferred but not required
Attention to detail
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
