What You Will Do:

RISK SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

  • Use data and technology to monitor risk reporting system, programs, and patient care initiatives

  • Analyze data to evaluate processes to determine value to organization

  • Use findings to suggest improvements, lead projects, and implement change

  • Research, develop, and implement new technology associated with risk reduction strategies

  • System optimization and utilization

  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Organizational Excellence and key clinical stakeholders to initiate optimization of risk data for planning and reporting

  • Education and training of others on VH risk reporting system optimization

  • Selecting and preparing new risk reporting technology

  • Training and supporting staff on how to use it.

  • Effectively serve as system administrator for software system for Risk Management

  • Ensure security of the system through access control and password assignment

  • Perform modifications as necessary to address the needs of users of the system

  • Maintain and modify when necessary, Web file for data collection

  • Provide education to VHS employees on changes or upgrades to the system

  • Collaborate with IS representative and software vendor for addressing system errors and system modifications

  • Design, generate and/or distribute monthly, quarterly and ad hoc incident detailed reports, trending analyses and statistical information

  • Continually strive to create reports that provide clear, concise, meaningful information to management, risk managers, and the performance improvement team

  • Collaborate with Information Services representative to address system functions and modifications

  • Serve as designer for VHS Risk Management site web page modifying as necessary to address the changing needs of VHS employees for access to Risk Management information

LOSS PREVENTION

  • Triage risks reported to determine high severity reports

o Communicated all risks reported with major severity level or knowledge of other potentially high-risk issues to appropriate VH risk manager or grievance/complaint specialist

? Establish communication pathway to inform and forward risk report to appropriate director and/or designee for analysis and documentation of follow up dependent on feedback

  • Accurately and thoroughly review follow up received, adjusting risk category and severity outcome level as needed depending on follow up received

  • Remain knowledgeable to policies addressing patient safety issues

  • Identify emerging risk areas reflected in the risk report data

  • Provide ongoing education to all VHS employees in appropriate utilization of risk reporting tools.

  • Focus on loss prevention to preclude occurrences by maintaining and improving the quality of care by reducing risks through concurrent, ongoing monitoring, which aims to reduce the frequency of losses

  • Evaluates the identified or potential loss to the organization through patient relations reporting mechanisms, utilizing trend analysis, and analysis of frequency and severity data

  • Tracks and trends risk reports to responsible management and the Quality, Regulatory and Organizational Excellence Teams as applicable for the entity involved.

  • Requests performance improvement activities from the Quality, Regulatory and Organizational Excellence Teams based on unfavorable trends or individual severe or high-risk events

  • Recommends the establishment and monitoring of indicators associated with all risks reported

EDUCATION AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Works closely with department leaders and staff to identify opportunities to educate VH personnel about risk and risk reduction strategies

  • Prepares and presents training sessions, &/or coordinates educational sessions for employees.

  • Remains knowledgeable and provides education as needed concerning regulatory matters affecting the healthcare industry

  • Actively contributes to the review, revision and creation of organizational standards, policies and procedures

  • Encourages all staff to participate in proactive risk management practices through educational efforts. Promotes safe, competent patient care in adherence to the VH values, corporate ethics, policies and procedures, and clinical care standards of the organization, including providing education and training on identifying, addressing and reporting risks for high reliability foundation

  • Maintains a strong working relationship with Quality Regulatory and Medical Staff Affairs personnel and remains well informed of quality standards and patient safety goals, organizational policies, procedures, goals and objectives related to quality and safety • Actively participates in, and prepares and provides education related to relevant reports for, standing and ad hoc committees and special projects

  • Fulfills mandatory reporting obligations to insurance Captive, VH Professionalism reporting, DHP or any licensing boards

What You Will Bring:

Education

Associates (LPN) or Bachelors in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, Informatics or related field

Experience

Minimum 5 years of clinical experience with some management experience preferred.

Experience in managing customer service preferred.

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Excellent problem-solving skills.
