What you'll be doing...
Risk Management & Compliance (RM&C) is responsible for overseeing Verizon policies, processes, people, and systems, and partnering with leaders to identify and mitigate financial, operational, legal, regulatory, reputational, and information security risks facing the Company. You will be a team lead and subject matter expert for data privacy; programs by the FCC and USAC (Universal Service Administrative Company); and other state or federal mandates.
Serve as the subject matter expert with respect to data privacy, while supporting Verizon in preparing for regulations such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other upcoming legislation at the state and federal levels.
Review new federal and state cybersecurity regulations, providing feedback to the Consumer Operations team and Legal. Based upon analysis, developing recommendations on security controls to address gaps.
Evaluate business unit implementation of key regulatory and Privacy/security frameworks and provide recommendations to gain alignment.
Collaborate with core business partners to improve controls via creative process design which meet the evolving business needs for customer experience and efficiency.
Strengthen the control environment, collaborate with external partners, and build new capabilities to adapt to evolving needs of the Company.
Perform Risk Assessments within the Regulatory space to determine developing areas of risk and ensure adequate Compliance monitoring is in place.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key internal customers, including all RM&C teams, Information Technology, Privacy, Legal, Information Security, Customer Experience, and all units in the Consumer organization.
Communicate timely and accurate information regarding findings and improvement recommendations for senior management and monitor management's improvement actions.
Provide knowledge-based leadership in driving the automation of manual and system controls to improve financial performance and transactional accuracy; the repair of controls that are not functioning as intended; and the enhancement of the control environment, where necessary to address current and developing threats.
Collaborate and build relationships with core business partners for continued security education and awareness.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Willingness to travel occasionally.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Criminal Justice, Math, or Information Systems.
A Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, CISM, CISSP).
Four or more years of work experience in operational compliance, business controls or finance.
Experience formulating, affecting, interpreting and implementing policies and processes to ensure a strong control environment.
Strong analytical, investigative, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain confidential and complex issues, and make recommendations to leadership.
Ability to mentor and guide others to further develop individual and team skills.
Experience driving complex solutions and analytics to provide ongoing and automated monitoring of key risks.
Project management experience.
Experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analytics and presentation.
Experience with report writing/database software such as Cognos Impromptu and Teradata SQL Assistant.Familiarity with Governance practices and processes, and solid business acumen.
Knowledge of information security fundamentals, best practices and industry standards with prior responsibilities of protecting information assets.
Experience preparing and providing executive level statuses and presentations using MS PowerPoint, Visio and Excel. Prior experience producing reference documentation for technical or business reference.
Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
