Risk Management Analyst 1
Job Summary: This position involves performing various risk management professional duties in support of the core mission of the Office of Risk Management, which is to assist the University and its departments to thoughtfully, pro-actively, and collaboratively evaluate and manage risks in order to leverage opportunities and eliminate or mitigate adverse effects.
Job Responsibilities:
35%- Provide assistance in the development, operations, and administration of the risk management, property, liability, workers' compensation and other risk programs, including claims and incident investigations, management data analysis, perform special projects or other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President or Assistant Director of Risk Management.
35%- Provide risk management and insurance consultation and assistance to University. Identify, assess, evaluate and mitigate or control operational, compliance, reputational, financial, strategic and other risks affecting the university; includes assisting with developing, implementing and monitoring of loss control measures and programs.
30%- Research, develop or review, and implement university policies, guidelines, best practices and recommendations. Provides outreach, education and training to University community and other LSU campuses. Develop and present reports to internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to University leadership, campus departments, underwriters, and insurance brokers, etc. Keep abreast of, or research, relevant risks, best practices, trends, regulations and laws.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 1 or more years' work experience in a professional setting and 1 year experience in one or more of the following areas: risk management, commercial property and liability insurance and/or claims, risk identification and analysis, contracts and waivers, policy development, workers compensation, or a relevant actuarial field. Experience substitute of a master's degree with relevant coursework and/or internships; or CPCU, ARM or other relevant designation.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 3 or more years' experience in a relevant professional role and specific experience of 2 or more years' experience in risk management, commercial property and liability insurance, risk identification and analysis, contracts and waivers, or policy development. ARM, CPCU or other relevant designation.

Uses organizational and business acumen in understanding and dealing with risks and opportunities in a manner that is likely to lead to a good outcome; applies best practices and research results to create buy in and achieve positive change in addressing risks.
Assists departments and administration regarding risk management through utilization of written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills; engaged listening; earned trust, and thoughtful constructive ideas.
Assess information pertaining to University risk and provides briefings and reports to the University leadership and administration.
Develops positive, strategic, productive alliances with internal and external stakeholders.
Promotes a culture of risk management throughout the University, using effective communication skills, decision making processes, risk management technical skills, knowledge of the University's strategic goals, and relationship management.
Provides risk management expertise, strategies, and perspective to the University via collaboration, committee participation, presentations, reporting, roundtables, and various risk management exercises.
