Overview
Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is a designated critical access hospital committed to providing quality health care service to residents in Crawford, Franklin and Washington counties.
The hospital has enhanced and expanded the health care services available to the greater Sullivan community with its state-of-the-art emergency department, modern childbirth center, critical care unit, multiroom surgical suite, expanded cardiac rehab services, and a cancer center. A 22,500 square-foot medical office building provides offices for primary care physicians as well as space for a variety of visiting medical and surgical specialists from the St. Louis area.
Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital operates four rural health clinics providing quality health care to surrounding communities. In addition, the hospital operates a comprehensive Therapy and Rehabilitation department and an award-winning Wound Care Center with two hyperbaric chambers.
Risk Management is responsible and accountable for the coaching and directing an integrated team to deliver high quality patient care. They provide leadership through positive role modeling of BJC/MBSH mission, vision and values by demonstrating current knowledge of State and regulatory practice acts/guidelines affecting areas of supervision.

Role Purpose
Manages the human and financial resources of the Risk and Compliance Department; guides the daily operation of the department and risk and compliance services. The manager takes initiative to protect the assets of the hospital by managing risk through loss prevention, loss control, risk transfer, claims management and patient safety. Also ensures appropriate communication and information exchange with all levels of the organization, to BJC Legal and Risk Management as well as external resources, defense council and agencies to accomplish risk management goals and program initiatives.
Responsibilities
Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.Develops and implements strategies that ensure the organization maintains a state of perpetual readiness for any and all reviews by regulatory agencies and to achieve a level of quality and services that exceed regulatory requirements.Reviews serious event data, claims and lawsuits to identify trends and help set priorities for intervention.Serves in an advisory capacity to provide risk analysis for capital expenditures, business ventures, equipment purchases and business practices to assist in ensuring the best possible protection.Analyzes, documents and reports information related to patient injury or potential compensable events (PCE's) and identifies potential liability and set reserves for loss exposure.Educates staff on reporting adverse events and patient harm to identify risk and improve service.
