Job Description:

This role is part of the Enterprise Capital and Strategic Risk team with responsibility for managing and providing oversight of the Company's Risk Appetite Program and assessment of Strategic Risk. Risk Appetite oversight and governance includes all aspects of the annual process to develop the qualitative components, quantitative limits and associated Risk Appetite Statements as well as quarterly reporting, limit breach tracking and support of audit and compliance requirements. Position will also have responsibilities within strategic risk program management to include coordination of the Strategic Plan risk assessment, updates to Strategic Risk within the Risk Identification inventory and quarterly Strategic Risk reporting.

Position provides an enterprise level view across all risk types and products, significant exposure to senior executives and an opportunity to develop enhanced business acumen related to the integration between strategic risk, risk appetite, capital and the company's strategic and financial plans.

Primary functions for this position:

  • Execute and mature the Risk Appetite program including annual limit setting, monitoring and breach escalations

  • Develop and maintain the Risk Appetite Guidelines

  • Participate in all aspects of the annual Risk Appetite update process, including development of the qualitative components, quantitative limits and associated Risk Appetite Statements

  • Review risk appetite limit breaches and breach remediation plans to ensure compliance with requirements outlined in the Risk Appetite Guidelines and works with associated metric owners to address any issues

  • Support the Strategic Risk coverage model integrated with Corporate Strategy, GRM Horizontals and Verticals, CFO and CAO Risk, Front Line Units, Corporate Treasury and CFO functions

  • Enhance Strategic Risk oversight between strategic planning cycles

  • Mature Strategic Risk governance routines

  • Produces required Risk Appetite and Strategic Risk reporting

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrates a strong desire to work within Strategic Risk and Risk Appetite and to continually seek opportunities to strengthen and improve our team's performance

  • 7+ years of Risk, Strategy Management, Finance or Compliance background with quantitative skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to interact, influence and communicate effectively with senior executives and business partners across the enterprise

  • Strong understanding of macro-economics, credit, and financials with the ability to apply those concepts to data analysis and translate information into actionable insights

  • Ability to work independently and identify and resolve issues quickly and accurately

  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and MS Excel

  • Advanced degree in business, economics or finance preferred

Enterprise Role Overview

Provides counsel to business unit managers on risk management issues. Identifies risks to which the LOB is exposed, implements measures to prevent, eliminate or mitigate losses, and monitors outcomes/risk levels. Ability to recognize all risk categories including credit, market, operational and compliance and bringing appropriate risk expertise as needed. Accountable for conducting execution of risk framework activities including, but not limited to, independent monitoring and testing of controls and risk management processes for the LOB. May direct risk staff or participate in establishing risk management procedures and standards, developing risk management analyses and reports, developing approval procedures and guidelines on risk limits by type of product and/or transaction, and in establishing management and administrative procedures to ensure adherence to policies
