Requirements: As a retail grocer, we operate 7 days/week and 365 days/year and as such work in support of our stores may include evening and weekend hours per the needs of the business. Valid Driver License and vehicle required, with ability to travel regularly to store locations, trade shows / events and/or other off-site locations throughout the United States / local region.

About the role: Develops and implements cross-functional risk management solutions. Collects and analyses data to propose strategies of preparedness, response, recovery, and prevention across all risk categories. Plans, organizes, and executes logistical support for company-wide risk initiatives. Partners with stakeholders across company, both at store and support office levels, to deliver positive results. Drives process success through innovative ideas, clear communication, and active collaboration. This is a management position. You are responsible for providing leadership in line with company values and promoting a positive and progressive work environment in alignment with our company mission, vision values and policies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages and provides oversight to all areas of the team. Directly manages staff, including review writing, scheduling and providing ongoing coaching, development and feedback. Assesses, prioritizes and delegates tasks and workflow.

  • Work with the Sr. Manager to develop and communicate the company's risk and compliance management philosophy and practices.

  • Establishes a cross-functional, multi-region strategy to assess company risks and compliance gaps. Develops and operationalizes effective mitigation strategies.

  • Designs and manages the company's GRC system for reporting and record keeping related to risk assessments.

  • Conducts risk assessments of proposed and existing cross-functional projects and programs using data analysis, quality control measures, key performance metrics, and knowledge of local, state and federal regulations. Provides recommendations to develop core understanding of risk and impacts on decision-making.

  • In collaboration with Sr. Manager, oversees incident response process to investigate and respond to incidents and crises in a comprehensive and timely manner that complies fully with applicable federal and state laws and manages the impact to the organization's operations and brand.

  • Facilitates, oversees and leads crisis management and business continuity solutions. Develops crisis response and recovery plans.

  • Oversees the design, development and implementation of auditing and compliance monitoring systems to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements across all company operations.

  • Oversees permits and licensing compliance cross-company for all retail locations.

  • Plans, proposes, organizes, oversees and executes cross-functional solutions to control risk, for short-term projects, long-term programs, and enterprise level strategic initiatives.

  • Develops and maintains resources including documentation, policies, processes, procedures, communications, training guides and tools for project implementation and improvement.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal regulations by studying existing and new regulations; anticipating regulations; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on necessary actions.

  • Fosters and maintains good relationships with regulatory bodies and representatives

  • Tools and Equipment Used (not all inclusive): This position works with standard office equipment. May be required to use the following tools and equipment when working in stores or offsite; baler, hand truck, POS, industrial kitchen equipment (i.e. blast chiller, grill, knives/blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.) and basic housekeeping / janitorial items.

  • This position works consistently at a light work level and may be asked to work on occasion at a medium or heavy work level when supporting stores or other offsite events. Frequently required to sit, walk, reach and grasp. Occasionally required to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift. Up to occasionally, dependent on location, required to climb stairs, step stool and /or ladders.

  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

What you Bring as a Candidate:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic-level role, emphasizing non-direct leadership, change management, and company-wide process improvement required.

  • Previous food and/or grocery specific industry experience required. Experience in a multi-unit, high growth retail or similar environment required.

  • Knowledge of risk management programs and prior project management experience required.

  • Previous supervisory or management level experience required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in related fields preferred, however relevant work experience in lieu of formal education is acceptable.

  • High-level proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel. Working knowledge of project management software programs / platforms or other retail specific software highly preferred. Skills to learn new computer programs and systems.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy, to collaborate, negotiate and communicate effectively and professionally with cross-functional partners at all levels in the company.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including high comprehension of regulatory documents and the ability to document processes, instructions, training documents and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with problem-solving, project management and execution of initiatives across multiple locations, regions and functional areas.

  • Proven experience driving and executing strategic initiatives, policies, programs and projects that achieve measurable business results.

  • High level of comfort with ambiguity, with skills to apply judgment and logic in decision-making.

  • Collaborative, strategic thinker and problem solver, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical and Environmental Work Space: Work occurs in office, a variety of off-site environments and in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures. There may be exposure to certain allergens and / or chemicals.
