About Parker

Parker's mission is to increase the number of financially independent people. We believe we can achieve this goal by building tools that enable independent business owners to scale their businesses profitably. Our first product combines a virtual credit card system with dynamic spending limits and software tooling to help e-commerce merchants grow and optimize their profitability.

We are growing very fast - in the last year, we've processed hundreds of millions of dollars in spend on our platform. Our investors include Valar (founded by Peter Thiel), Y Combinator, and notable angels.

About the role

We are looking for a risk analyst. Your hats will include being a risk policymaker, risk data scientist, risk strategist, and risk technologist; you'll do many hard, interesting and technical risk-related things. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about building technology to solve risk problems systematically, have strong experience doing analytical risk work, and have a growth mindset. This is a highly cross-functional role with lots of exposure to Parker's co-founders and C-Suite.

What you'll do

  • You are the go-to resource for analytical risk-related work; expect this to be about 80% credit, and 20% fraud, KYB, servicing, compliance, unit economics, and capital markets related

  • Collaborate with underwriting and risk operations to create sound risk policy; this role will be about 50% analytics and policy creation, 30% system improvements, and 20% modeling, but this will change over time

  • Autonomously find gaps in risk systems, determine how to solve them, and drive solutions to completion

  • Partner with engineering and product to build a scalable risk machine

  • Work with growth and CX to find ways to profitably grow the book, and improve the experience of customers interacting with risk systems & controls

Who you are

  • Three or more years of experience in analytical roles, with at least one of those years being risk-related; good understanding of commercial credit

  • Strong SQL skills (non-negotiable)

  • Growth mindset: you can point to specific ways you've upgraded your skill set each year

  • You are tenacious; you don't give up on tough problems, and you show this in multiple dimensions of life

  • Systems-oriented: Your first instinct is to apply systems, logic, code, and automation to unsolved problems

Nice to haves

  • Good understanding of risk modeling concepts and techniques

  • Can transform your own data using DBT, and write python code when necessary

  • Knowledge of financial accounting

  • Experience communicating complex analysis to executives

  • Experience at a best-in-class fintech, quantitative hedge fund, or financial institution

  • Understanding of e-commerce businesses, and/or business credit cards

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 USD

  • Competitive startup equity

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
