673 Enterprise Risk Management

Job Summary:


The Risk Analyst will work in the development and implementation of the International Bancshares Corporation's (IBOC) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program. The Risk Analysts report to the Risk Advisors and are responsible for identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks and development of methodologies and processes to measure and report issues to the business process' Senior Management, Risk Management Committee, and Risk Committee.

  • Assist the Risk Analyst II and/or Senior Risk Analyst perform risk assessments, based on the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management framework, which includes identifying, measuring and communicating risk issues.

  • Aid with the compilation of reports over risk appetite measures.

  • In conjunction with the Risk Advisor(s) and Senior Risk Analyst, help develop, implement, and monitor risk mitigation programs.

  • Support the risk management activities over the Model Risk Management program, excludes model validation activities.

  • Research and prepare regulatory summaries of new or updated guidance, regulations, or policies, issued by the Federal Reserve Bank and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), used by senior management to determine its applicability to the bank.

  • Stay abreast of current and emerging issues in the banking industry.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as required to fulfill departmental goals.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Self-starter and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail oriented and with the aptitude to research, comprehend, and analyze information.

  • Curious and open to learn various bank business processes.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or General Business. Experience within the financial services or auditing industry may substitute education requirement.

Monitors the risk and control environment to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels and may consult on risk mitigation plans. Job Requirements * Partners with key stakeholders in the business to identify, assess, aggregate and document risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations and third party operations utilizing maturing knowledge. * May help present findings to various levels of leadership. * Assists in communicating results of risk assessments to governance committees, business process owners and various levels of leadership. * Supports the implementation of new risk policies, practices, appetites and solutions to ensure holistic understanding and management of risks according to industry best practice. * Supports processes that focus on enhancing strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks. * Applies maturing knowledge to participate in producing analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand business objectives and influence solution strategies. * Contributes in crossfunctional teams to identify, assess, aggregate and mitigate current and emerging risk events. * Contributes to projects that impact the organization. * Assists in the formulation of stress test plans for a line of business or the enterprise including the evaluation of results, and framing of contingency plans in partnership with key business stakeholders. Minimum Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field required, 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree. * 2 or more years risk management or operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting or other related operational area Or advanced degree/designation in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative discipline relevant to risk management. * Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required. * Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.* When you apply for this position, you will be required to answer some initial questions.
