POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the overall administration and management of the Internal Medicine Residency Program in concert with the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director. This includes planning, directing and managing all phases of the fiscal, personnel, administrative, recruitment, and orientation programmatic activities/functions associated with the Internal Medicine Residency Program. In addition, the residency administrator oversees the administration of the Internal Medicine fellowships, working with the different fellowship coordinators.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • BA/BS preferred

  • Minimum five years Administrative leadership experience required.

  • Minimum of three years Medical Education experience required.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Compliance of Residency Program with Regulatory

    Requirements:
    1.Ensure Residency Program Compliance with ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) Regulations
  • Ensure Residency Program Compliance with Institutional Requirements (department level oversight), NY State regulations, American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) requirements, JCAHO, and RRH GME office oversight.

  • General Residency Administration:
    1.Oversees and facilitates the development of strategic and operational performance improvement plans / goals for residency medical education

  • Budget Responsibilities (Major emphasis is on financial administration and management of residency program)

  • Staff hiring, supervision, and oversight:
    1.Functioning independently and with great latitude and judgment, identify, supervise, and evaluate residency program staff, including: supervision, performance evaluation, compensation, job-related education, progressive discipline, termination, sick leave and vacation, disability and employee benefits. Prepare salary recommendations and monitor staff compensation levels to ensure equity. Evaluate changes in staff job responsibilities and develop requests for new positions and job reclassifications.

  • Identify, evaluate, and supervise all (76) Residents and Chief Residents. Direct and coordinate the recruitment of new residents and new resident orientation. Ensure resident compliance with RRH policies and procedures. Deliver non-clinical performance counseling to residents and provide feedback for their performance evaluations via participation in Clinical Competence Committee. Coordinate compensation, job-related education, progressive discipline, termination, sick leave and vacation, disability and employee benefits.

  • Oversight of the administration of the Internal Medicine fellowships:
    1.Assist residency program director in the oversight of internal medicine fellowship programs, including coordinating meetings with fellowship directors, fellowship administrators, and fellows on a regular and as needed basis; serving as a resource to program administrators in performance of their duties ensuring ACGME compliance, recruiting fellows, working with MedHub, etc;

  • Support fellowship programs' process improvement efforts, evaluating and responding to concerning issues identified in the annual surveys, program outcomes, and fellow and faculty feedback.

  • Communicate APDIM meeting information on a yearly basis to subspecialty fellowship program coordinators.
