About Apptegy
Since our start in 2015, we've gone from a group of individuals to a community pushing toward the same goal of building a fantastic company with great people, great products, and, most importantly, a great culture.
Apptegy is building products to empower school leaders to run better schools. We have the opportunity to help schools as they go through a radical shift in how they operate and to provide great technology to make that transition.
We are focused on bringing thoughtful, high-performers together to craft an experience for our clients and to make Apptegy a better place than it already is.
Apptegy's Sales Team continues to grow and we are looking for a highly organized, efficient and driven individual to make that team more effective than they already are. Even if you have never worked with RFPs, we would still very much like to talk with you if you're up to this particular challenge.
RFP Analyst
An RFP or Request for Proposal is a document provided by school districts (and other organizations) that outlines the requirements of services, projects, or work they are hiring an outside vendor to complete. It starts a competitive process and different vendors submit their own proposals to win a school districts' business.
Larger districts specifically are going through this competitive process to ensure compliance with purchasing requirements. An RFP (the source document) typically has 40-100 pages of terms and requirements-and our proposals (the submission) average around 100 pages of content, with a good portion of it customized.
As the RFP Analyst, you will work closely with the RFP Project Coordinator, Graphic Designers, and other team members to help analyze the RFPs we receive and write and develop our exceptional and detailed proposal responses for these school districts and other organizations. You will be responsible for aiding the RFP Project Coordinator in creating all proposals and helping with related processes, including the technical writing/content writing of these proposals and contributing in cross collaboration with other team members and departments to ensure the accuracy of the information in each proposal. All work is done in a timely manner to ensure that the proposals are submitted with sufficient time before their hard deadlines.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys content writing and editing, collaborating with others, meeting deadlines, and has a strong eye for detail. It's an important position that will accelerate our efficiency and growth and have an impact across the company.
Responsibilities:
Aid the RFP Project Coordinator in pushing the RFP process along & staying organized, including finishing assigned tasks
Read RFPs closely for requirements and compile, write, & organize technical response answers & copywriting that properly addresses these requirements
Review & edit proposals for accuracy before they are finalized and submitted
Work closely with others to improve the content and design of each proposal and ensure accuracy of all information in each proposal
Work closely with the Sales Enablement Team to assist with daily tasks as needed
What is expected of you:
Business sense: Writing proposals for RFPs requires a good sense of business and what is being asked. You should come with an interest or experience in education, business, or both. You will draw on that knowledge to understand what a question might be looking for and to strategically improve how we answer questions and write to an educated audience (Boards of Education, Superintendents, and others).
Strong writing: To be successful, you will need to have experience writing accessible and convincing copy. Successful proposals rely on selling value which is highly dependent on the content and the quality of the writing. A technical writing background or prior experience with proposals is recommended.
High attention to detail: Although every job posting out there says "Attention to detail," in this role your success depends on your ability to be thorough and pay attention to the smallest details. Along with the RFP Project Coordinator, you will be one of the first and last people to review an RFP and the final proposal. That means you should be someone who catches the little things, especially when it counts. You are someone that takes pride in correcting misspellings, finding misplaced commas, and improving syntax.
Organization & Proactiveness: You should have learned the skill of being organized and maintaining a personal system that keeps track of what is a priority. Overall, you should have a knack for managing your work to successfully meet the deadlines given to you.
Drive: You should be someone who brings drive and intensity to their work. We are growing quickly and need someone who can get more done in less time. This is a position that will demand that you make the most out of each hour and each day.
What is true of you:
An aptitude for challenge & a track record of success:
Have 1-2 years of copywriting or related work experience (Preferred)
You have completed a four-year college degree with a high GPA or have comparable, continuous work experience
You have an impressive track record in your academic and work history
You have been in a fast-paced working environment and know how to pick up tech tools quickly
An ability to manage your day and be effective & efficient:
You have managed your own workflow and schedule.
You are a Go Getter - when you have a task at hand, you work to get it done in a timely manner
Remarkable writing and communication skills:
You enjoy and have experience communicating in a professional environment.
You know how to write effective emails and engage professionally across all channels (phone, video, written)
You know how to adapt your writing to successfully convey the message being told and the value being sold
An ability and desire to build rapport:
You are not afraid to pick up the phone or ask questions
You enjoy building professional relationships and always look for opportunities to make more contacts
You're open and eager to learning new subject matter and communicating with others to do so
What else should I know?
We take our responsibility as a company seriously and aim to make this the best job that you've had (and one that sets you up for future success).
We want your day at work and your time at home to be a joyful experience, that's why we provide:
Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents
Matching 401(k) retirement plan
Discretionary/flexible paid time off policy
Parental leave

If the challenge of building a rapidly growing company excites you as much as it does us, we hope that you'll consider joining us.
