Summary: RF systems design, analysis and development for space and ground segments in the National Security Space business area.

Duties:

  • Perform conceptual systems design, simulation, link analysis, hardware trade studies, technical tradeoffs, and costing for satellite communications and RF system design concepts for both space and ground segments.

  • Work with mission and spacecraft systems engineers, peer subsystem engineers and project management in overall mission development and execution from concept to launch, including technical concept design, requirements, development phases, technical reviews, budget development and schedule.

  • Lead technical teams throughout the RF systems development cycle, including system concept, trade studies, prototype work, flight development, integration, and test.

  • Assist project and program management in sponsor engagement.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.

  • 5 years direct experience in satellite RF communications and RF systems design, development, simulation (MATLAB, SystemVue, or equivalent) and operations.

  • Experience in RF hardware design and/or testing.

  • Excellent writing skills.

  • Clear thinking, good interpersonal skills, and effective communications skills.

  • Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI w/poly security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in electrical engineering.

  • Experience with software-defined radios, antennas, RF characterization and measurements to Ka-band or beyond, Radar systems design, military satellite communications systems.

Job Summary: The candidate will be responsible for rapidly designing, prototyping, developing and testing state-of-the-art algorithms related to Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) based signal tracking, advanced telemetry signal processing, signals of opportunity (SoOp) signal tracking, and synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) and radar (SAR) applications. Duties: * Develop advanced tracking and acquisition algorithms for field-acquired GPS/GNSS datasets (35%) * Develop software demodulation and detection algorithms for field-acquired telemetry datasets (35%) * Develop proof-of-concept algorithms for emerging signal processing and communications projects (15%) * Assist in the definition and execution of data acquisition field tests (10%) * Brief sponsor and project leadership on development and testing outcomes (5%). Required Qualifications: BS degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mathematics or a closely related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Strong understanding of digital signal processing and communication modulation techniques (CDMA, SOQPSK, PCM/FM, OFDM, etc.), to include experience performing one or more related to communication systems such as signal acquisition, demodulation, phase-locked loops, filtering and signal analyses. Demonstrated experience in software development with expertise with several of the following software tools: C , Matlab, Python, Boost C libraries, and distributed computing. Ability to clearly communicate ideas and results with co-workers, and effectively work in a team environment while multitasking across multiple projects. Desired Qualifications: MS degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or a closely related discipline. At least 4 years of experience working on digital signal processing and communication systems applications and software development. Special Working Conditions: Some travel required.
