Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Analyze data to determine feasibility of product proposal

  • Research and select electronic components with performance, manufacturability and product cost goals in mind

  • Prepare or direct preparation of schematics and PCB layout

  • Use simulation tools to demonstrate design intent

  • Plan and develop experimental test programs

  • Oversee test personnel in the design fabrication and testing of prototype models

  • Use laboratory test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, network analyzers, noise figure probes, spectrum analyzers) to ensure products meet their electrical design goals

  • Select RF components to optimize matching and tuning performance

  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if the design meets all regulatory, functional, and performance specifications

  • Produce formal documentation for the manufacture of designated products

  • Work closely with manufacturing to ensure a smooth design handoff

  • Mentor Junior engineers and technicians

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize projects, and efficiently manage time

  • Great organizational, analytical, and numeric skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work with other departments to ensure deadlines are met and objectives are achieved

  • Experience with:

  • Battery or other low power wireless devices

  • Schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium preferred)

  • PCB bring up and test

  • Test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, DMMs, oscilloscopes

  • RF component integration experience

  • Power amplifiers, LNAs, mixers, synthesizers, SAW filters, etc.

  • Tuning RF traces and circuits.

  • Embedded antenna design/analysis

  • Solid broad-based knowledge of and experience with analog front-end RF circuits ranging from 1GHz to 5GHz

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) from four (4) year college or university in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred

  • Minimum five (5) years industry experience (outside of university)

  • RF component integration experience

  • Power amplifiers, LNAs, mixers, synthesizers, SAW filters, etc.

  • Tuning RF traces and circuits.

  • Embedded antenna design/analysis

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
