Job Summary:

Support the RF Engineering department while learning about cell towers,wireless coverage, antenna design, field testing, and data analysis (amongst other things).

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze coverage and network performance via desktop engineering and field tests.

  • Collect and analyze data, from multiple sources, to best determine where to deploy additional network resources, specifically for LTE and upcoming 5G.

  • Observe and comply with all safety procedures.

  • Demonstrates and holds employees accountable for stewardship of the brand to include embodiment of the Shentel Way by ensuring appropriate use of the brand (name, logo, company, appearance, and attitude) within their respective team and organization.

  • Qualification Requirements:

  • Education: Enrolled in a College/University program. Major must be in a technical field.

  • Skills Summary:
    Strong math and data skills. Some programming experience is a plus.

  • Must be 18 or older.

  • Licenses or Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license.

    Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred.

No Project Overview: In August of 2017, Georgia Power selected Bechtel to complete construction of the two-reactor expansion of a nuclear power plant near Augusta, Georgia. Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 will be the first new units built in the U.S. in the last three decades and are currently the only new units being constructed in the country. At the peak of construction, this vital project will employ up to 5,000 on site. These positions will include building tradespeople, engineers, field supervisors, construction and project managers, quality assurance professionals, safety professionals, procurement, subcontract specialists and many others. This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required. This project is working an extended work week (EWW), 10 hours/day Monday – Friday, with day and night shifts. This schedule is subject to change Role Overview: The Field Welding Engineer is responsible for supporting the Project Field Engineer and the Lead Field Welding engineer in implementing the site welding program. This includes, but not limited to, the following: * Implement and maintain Bechtel Field Welding program for all welding operations * Provide technical assistance to field superintendents and crafts. * Ensure that all supervision and craft personnel involved in welding operations are educated and aware of applicable code and project requirements * Provide leadership, direction, supervision and support to assigned field welding engineers in Train 1 area. * Provide specialized welding engineering support to ensure construction meets all code and Bechtel procedures. * Provide technical expertise for ASME, API, and AWS or other code designed and fabricated items. * Help manage pre- and post-weld heat treatment program whether self- performed by Bechtel or subcontracted * Establish and manage rod room and rod room attendant to ensure all weld filler materials are controlled and meet Bechtel and Code requirements * Help manage the NDE subcontract, including scheduling and coordination between construction and subcontractor * Set up, manage and monitor welding test lab to insure high quality welders are being tested and hired * Work with craft supervision to maintain welding documentation and ensure the credibility/accountability of the Welding Program * Manage, issue, and maintain welder qualifications and welder stamps * Perform field inspections of welding work to ensure workmanship and materials are in conformance with project requirements. Document welding and inspections on an ongoing basis. * Advise on rectification of quality behaviors and defects prior to final inspection * Verification of materials, workmanship and specification/code requirements * Implementation of project quality control program for welding. * Responsible for the requisitioning and set up of the welding consumables program * Assist field procurement in inspection and receipt of welding materials. * Implement weld inspection tracking system using TEAMWorks/WITS applications Basic Qualifications: * Must be certified to, or have sufficient NDE training, experience, and/or qualifications to take and pass Bechtel NDE Level II VT examination. * Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience * Strong piping experience especially in piping design drawings and specifications is a definite asset * Strong background in welding with experience in preheat & post weld heat treatment is required * Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's SWPP 4MP-T81-03701 Welding Program, 03702 Welder Training & Instructor Qualification, 03703 Positive Material Identification, and 03705 Welding & NDE Documentation * Must be knowledgeable in ASME, AWS and other applicable industry standards. * Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner * Strong supervision experience including the ability to lead and manage change is desirable * Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications * TEAMWorks and WITS database experience is desirable * Strong experience of liaising with and coordinating contractors * Excellent problem solving ability * Must currently have the right to work in the United States * Must be able to pass nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility * To be considered for Grade 25: A BS Degree qualification in Welding Engineering plus 6 years' experience, or have equivalent industry experience with a minimum 12 years experience in welding and/or heavy construction * To be considered for Grade 26: A BS Degree qualification in Welding Engineering plus 9 years' experience, or have equivalent industry experience with a minimum 15 years experience in welding and/or heavy construction Bechtel's internal staffing policy includes the minimum time that you need to be in your current position before applying to a new position.
