Currently seeking a RF Communications Engineer to support and advise our NAVAIR Platform Offices supporting the Tactical Communications Integrated Product Team responsible for managing the evolution/integration of networked communication protocols, satellite communication system architectures and system integration support.
Essential Job Functions:Research new radio functionality, analyzing requirements, submit inputs for acquisition documentation and support technical evaluations of proposals.Provide support for radio developments including SATCOM modernization, new crypto requirements/development/integration of evolving communication protocols, tactical networking waveforms, and other functions for the ARC-210 family of products.Reviews, analyzes, develops, prepares or applies engineering plans and technical specifications.Organizes, analyzes, and prepares reports or presentations of technical data and information.Requirements analysis to develop communication integration plans to meet platform requirements.Manages project system engineering reviews and configuration management of integration plans.Provides systems engineering support through design reviews for newly developed capabilities for software defined radios and associated ancillaries.
Required Skills:Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.A Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering plus 6 years of experience is required.Must have an Active Secret security clearance. A basic knowledge of avionics such as: ARC-210 radios, SATCOM, and tactical networking waveforms.Basic computer skills with ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.Desired

Skills:
At least five years of experience directly related to Naval Aviation Systems.

What You'll Get to Do: * Install, operate, and maintain network equipment at various local and customer site locations * Design and test mockup prototypes and test lab environments * Maintain test lab network and network Backbone (Switches, Routers, Firewalls) * Modify lab networking equipment to integrate with external facilities based on customer requirements * Keep network documentation up to date * Troubleshoot customer network support issues remotely, by telephone, or travel onsite * Work with a diverse set of contractors and customer personnel using strong interpersonal skills to contribute to the assessment, integration, testing and fielding of wide raging technologies, and advanced concepts. * Translate customer's requirement to working concepts and designs, brief status and demos to government and community stakeholders, and provide technical recommendations. You'll Bring These Qualifications: * US Citizen with the ability to transfer/obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. * Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or related IT discipline. * 5-8 years of hands on experience in network design, administration, operations, procedures, and troubleshooting * 5 or more years of experience as a Network Engineer / Network Admin / Network Security Specialist / Systems Integration Engineer * Experience in the management of production networks in an operational environment * Expert understanding of network fundamentals (switching, routing, firewalls), LAN/WAN technologies, the ISO later model, TCP/IP, and data communications systems and protocols * Experience performing network packet inspection, traffic analysis, performance characterization (e.g. WireShark, TCPdump, etc.) * Ability and willingness to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. * Ability and willing to travel as needed.
