Position Summary:

Maintains accurate master patient index data, analyzes master patient index errors and provides feedback to clinical and registration leaders for education. Acts as subject matter expert related to master patient index management.

Uses Quality Advisor and 3M 360 Encompass to create reports and analyze claims and coded data. Audits Charge accuracy. Uses data analytics to monitor payer denials and denial responses.

Provides routine reporting and pro-active analytical support related to billing, documentation and compliance. Coordinates various committee activities related to charge capture, chargemaster maintenance and regulatory changes to validate optimal and compliant billing practices for St. Luke's Hospital.

Conducts audits of documentation and associated billing practices for clinical departments and Patient Financial Services. Works effectively with Patient Financial Services, Information Systems, Health Information Services, point-of service areas, clinical support departments, urgent care centers, Surrey Place, nursing, fiscal services, third-party payers, physician offices, patients and other external customers to bring about problem resolution in a professional manner. Maintains software system processes as required.

Mentors staff and provides them with consultative guidance regarding billing and compliance issues. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke's mission and values.

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:

Education: Associates or Bachelor degree in a health services discipline with formal HIM education and national certification as RHIA, RHIT or CDHA or a minimum of four years progressive revenue cycle experience in revenue integrity, business analytics or health data management is required
