Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY

Revenue Cycle/General Accountant for Sonic Healthcare USA, one of the nation's largest networks of medical laboratories, located in Austin, TX. This role is responsible for oversight and direction to division finance staff on compliance with the Sonic Healthcare USA Accounts Receivable - Revenue Methodology Policy. Working knowledge of laboratory accounting practices is required, along with a strong proficiency in spreadsheet and data base software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • In-depth monthly review and analysis of monthly divisional accounting deliverables related to revenue recognition including contractual rate and bad debt valuation.

  • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with SHUSA's Accounts Receivable/Revenue Methodology Policy.

  • Maintain and improve monthly reporting templates.

  • Assist in enforcement of revenue accounting policies and procedures including training division staff in proper procedures, when required

  • Participate in the PAMA reporting activity for all sites, including data evaluation, extraction and validation for reporting.

  • Act as a resource to all divisions in the data accumulation and validation process, and Liaison with IT and division finance and billing staff to facilitate compliance with the government reporting process.

  • Analyze division AR agings; Review and report on aging assessment and actively communicate with divisions for proper resolution of aging items.

  • Evaluate valuation methodologies in use and determine together with division financial management staff if modification of standard methodology is required to properly value certain payer receivables.

  • Review balance sheet reconciliations for all divisions on a monthly basis for revenue and AR related accounts during the financial statement close process to ensure that the general ledger and underlying revenue schedules are in agreement.

  • Work with divisions to improve controls over accounting for areas that may be noted for improvement, and work to improve consistency in payer and financial class reporting between business units.

  • Assist with external audit activity in related to Revenue and AR requests.

  • Participate in the annual budgeting process in regards to revenue cycle activity, including Payer Mix and classifications, PPA and impact from future reimbursement changes (e.g. PAMA).

  • Prepare monthly division-level balance sheet account reconciliations (outside of AR and revenue) for all Sonic business units.

  • Provide support as needed for special finance centric projects.

  • Minimal travel may be required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BBA degree in accounting, finance, business or related field is required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting and/or audit in Healthcare industry required. Medical laboratory revenue accounting experience strongly preferred.

  • Multi-company auditing or accounting experience is preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP strongly preferred.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent mathematical aptitude with ability to apply knowledge utilizing spreadsheet and data base applications

  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent computer skills, especially with Excel and data base applications, combined with ability to extract data from various laboratory billing systems

  • Able to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong work ethic and team player

  • Able to perform duties with minimal supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
