Summary

King County's Finance and Business Operations Division, Treasury section, is seeking a Revenue Collections Specialist (Fiscal Specialist 3)!

The property tax team handles billing, collecting, distributing, and reporting of real and personal property taxes, gambling taxes, and local improvement district assessments. This position is responsible for processing, reconciling, and ensuring the accuracy of property tax payments. Our ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, enthusiastic, forward thinking, agile, and customer service driven. We are looking for candidates with a 'can do' attitude with the ability to stay calm while handling a high volume of transitions, collaborate with team members, problem solve and learn new systems.

Scope of Job Duties: To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to:

  • Use high-volume mass mailing and large-scale mail processing equipment to process, reconcile, ensure accuracy, and send electronic deposits to the bank while accurately entering account payment data into the property tax system. Open and prepare incoming property tax payments for processing and posting to tax accounts.

  • Process incoming electronic payments via wire or ACH into the property tax system

  • Conduct journal entries daily of payments into Oracle EBS

  • Sort, load, and lift incoming and outgoing tax statements, mailings, and notices.

  • Verify the accuracy of tax payments with the amount owed; identify and correct errors in payment calculations; research discrepancies; prepare tax refunds and payment returns; train and direct temporary staff in processing tax payments.

  • Communicate tax information by email, telephone, and in person to a variety of taxpayers, Treasury staff, County departments, and outside agencies involving tax payments, and name or address change inquiries.

  • Provide backup support for the cashier and other team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Clerical or Data Entry experience including entering and reviewing numerical data with speed, accuracy, and high attention to detail while focusing on time-sensitive deadlines;

  • Ability to perform research, analyze and solve problems related to financial transactions;

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, writing and customer service skills;

  • Intermediate level of technology proficiency using MS Office Productivity tools in your daily work;

  • Ability to manage your time and adapt to changing priorities, work on multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, meet quick deadlines, and produce timely and quality work products;

  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Experience with mail handling

  • Experience with payment processing

  • Experience with LEAN processes and principles

  • Experience with SharePoint, MS Teams and other collaborative online tools

Position Information:

  • Work Site Details:The work associated with this position will 100% in office at King Street Center

  • Work Schedule:This position is Non-Exemptfrom the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a35-hour workweek; normally 7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • Union Representation: This position is represented by Teamsters 117.
