The Revenue and Cost Accounting Role is a key member of our Accounting leadership team that plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimizing gross margins, and managing relevant audits and compliance requirements.

This position requires a deep understanding of US GAAP and functional expertise in global accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost and Inventory Accounting:

· Manage accounting for the company’s Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and Inventory functions.

· Calculate and analyze COGS components, including warranty and inventory reserves, price variances, standard cost changes (as applicable), and intercompany profit eliminations.

· Manage critical reserves like Excess and Obsolete (E&O) /Slow-moving Inventories and other inventory adjustments (count adjustments, price adjustments, etc).

· Monitor and review results of periodic cycle counts and year-end physical counts performed by Operations/Inventory Management team to maintain an accurate perpetual inventory ledger.

· Perform all month-end inventory and cost account reconciliations, ensuring that all accounts in the general ledger are appropriately supported with accurate details.

· Prepare or review month-end journal entries related to inventory and costs.

· Drive the resolution of accounting and audit issues related to cost and inventory which entails research, problem solving, leading and coordinating internal and external meetings, among others.

· Other adhoc requirements and projects in the cost and inventory area.

· Supervise and review output of inventory and cost accounting staff and consultants

Revenue Accounting:

· Must be well-versed in ASC 606, the accounting standard that governs revenue recognition. They should understand the five-step model for recognizing revenue from contracts with customers.

· Review and analyze customer contracts to determine the appropriate revenue recognition method (e.g., over time or at a point in time) for a gaming manufacturing company or at least a manufacturer that sells tangible products.

· Establish and manage revenue accruals and reserves.

· Knowledge of accounting for trade-ins in a manufacturing setting.

· Knowledge of ASC 842 and ASC 606 rules around Leases (lessor side) is a big plus.

· Monitor deferred revenue balances and recognize revenue as services are delivered or products are shipped. Knowledge of variable consideration and material rights concept of ASC 606 is a big plus.

· Other adhoc projects and requirements in the Revenue area.

Financial and External Reporting:

· Monthly Close: Lead the monthly close process related to revenue, inventory and cost accounting. Ensure all margin-related journal entries are accurate and complete.

· Reconciliation: Review relevant accounts, including deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, warranties, and inventory adjustments.

· Financial Statements: Prepare revenue-related, COGS-related, and inventory-related disclosures for financial statements (e.g., revenue breakdown by product line, geographic region, etc.).

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

· Operations, Sales and Legal Teams: Collaborate with Operations , Sales and Legal teams in the ordinary course of business (i.e. inventory receipts, shipments, contract negotiations for revenue contracts and contract structure, among others.)

· Audit Support: Assist external auditors and regulatory compliance team by providing documentation and explanations for responsible areas.

Team Leadership:

· Foster a positive work environment by managing team morale and cultivating a culture of collaboration with other members of the Accounting Department.

· Champion personnel development, guiding team members to learn on the job and enhance their professional experience through continuous learning opportunities and career growth pathways.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA highly preferred.

· A minimum of 6 years of experience, with a preference for expert /managerial roles within an accounting and finance department. 2-3 years of experience with a Big-4 audit firm or tier 2 national firm is preferred.

· Gaming manufacturing experience is highly preferred. Will consider other manufacturing exposure depending on overall collective experience.

· Multinational company experience a big plus – for company with revenue similar to our size.

· Profound knowledge of US GAAP, especially in the revenue accounting, cost accounting and inventory areas. Capable of documenting technical accounting positions in whitepapers and be able to articulate accounting issues with accounting leadership, senior management and external auditors.

· Proven track record in managing external audits.

· Exceptional analytical skills and a passion for developing robust accounting processes.

· Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting software is required. SAGE500 experience is a big plus.

· Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros is required.
