Under general supervision, works within established procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with Nebraska tax laws. Work is performed in one or more of the following categories: collections, record review and analysis, and inspections.

Examples of Work
Assist and educate taxpayers on all motor fuels tax programs, including licensing; regulations; and filing of tax forms, and performing basic collection and compliance functions.
Research, analyze, and resolve complex tax processing situations.
Contact by phone or letter, motor fuels tax filers that are delinquent in filing or payment of taxes.
Track the movement of fuel between licensed filers.
Process electronic returns on a rotating duty basis.
Share export files with other states and research diverted loads.
Assist with special projects.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree in business OR Two years of experience with tax return preparation, business ownership and operation, account research and analysis, or interpretation and application of policies, laws, rules, or regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Processes and procedures for tax collection; mathematics and accounting; business operations and practices; resources available for researching tax laws, rules, and regulations. Ability to: Communicate to express clear and concise ideas; utilize interpretive techniques to determine information sought; organize and verify tax data/information from computer generated reports; set priorities; relate effectively with people representing a wide variety of backgrounds; interpret difficult tax programs for taxpayers; determine why a taxpayer is not in compliance and carry out collection procedures; use independent judgment.
