Under general supervision, works within established procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with Nebraska tax laws. Work is performed in one or more of the following categories: collections, record review and analysis, and inspections.

Examples of Work

  • Assist and educate taxpayers on all motor fuels tax programs, including licensing; regulations; and filing of tax forms, and performing basic collection and compliance functions.

  • Research, analyze, and resolve complex tax processing situations.

  • Contact by phone or letter, motor fuels tax filers that are delinquent in filing or payment of taxes.

  • Track the movement of fuel between licensed filers.

  • Process electronic returns on a rotating duty basis.

  • Share export files with other states and research diverted loads.

  • Assist with special projects.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree in business OR Two years of experience with tax return preparation, business ownership and operation, account research and analysis, or interpretation and application of policies, laws, rules, or regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: Processes and procedures for tax collection; mathematics and accounting; business operations and practices; resources available for researching tax laws, rules, and regulations. Ability to: Communicate to express clear and concise ideas; utilize interpretive techniques to determine information sought; organize and verify tax data/information from computer generated reports; set priorities; relate effectively with people representing a wide variety of backgrounds; interpret difficult tax programs for taxpayers; determine why a taxpayer is not in compliance and carry out collection procedures; use independent judgment.

Assist in answering incoming reservation calls, monitoring all pre-arrival reservations. Support of the Inventory Manager and the front desk in daily operations as well as being a liaison between the front desk, Marriott reservations and the sales department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Data entry into computer system to include Marriott systems (HPP, MARSHA, PMS, CI/TY) 2. Answer phone and reservations calls 3. Input and/or modify group blocks and rooming lists and coordinate pre-keys. 4. Pre-arrival billing resolution (ex Direct Bill, ZZ accounts) 5. Processing of VIP reservations (Pre-block, amenities) 6. Maintain repeat guest recognition program 7. Send pre-arrival e-mails daily 8. Develop and maintain Guest of Day program 9. Attend daily 'stand up' meetings 10. Maintain the welcome cards to guests from the GM. 11. Assign and communicate 'show room' for site visits. 12. Operate fax machine, copier, voicemail system, and E-mail system 13. Assign special requests to rooms and communicate with front desk and housekeeping 14. Maintain additional special requests for guests 'Local Profile' in Guestware 15. Assist in balancing the house daily 16. Coordinate with BT Sales Manager the BT account of the month and assist with recognition 17. Input of group blocks from CI/TY into MARSHA / PMS systems. 18. Follow all Marcus Hotels and Resorts policies and procedures, Marriott Standards, and Information Protection procedures. 19. Perform all other related duties and special projects as requested and/or assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 1. High School Diploma required, advanced degree in hospitality related field preferred. 2. At least 1 year of prior hotel experience in Front Office. 3. Considerable knowledge of computer systems for registration, reservations and back-up systems, prior Marriott system experience preferred. 4. Above average mathematical comprehension to understand and interpret numbers and they apply to operations in a Hotel with accuracy of numbers and /or data. 5. Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills to include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language. 6. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts. 7.
