Revenue Accounting Senior Manager (Hybrid)

General Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Revenue, the Revenue Accounting Senior Manager will play a critical role on Vertex's Global Revenue team as Vertex prepares for the launch of new products. The role will be integral in developing new capabilities and reporting to support additional products and complex estimation processes for gross to net revenue. This role will also work cross-functionally with accounting and finance to ensure global revenue policies applied consistently across regional accounting teams for both existing and new products.

This position is based in our Boston, MA office, located in the Seaport area. This role requires a hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office & 2 days remote on a weekly basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for building complex gross to net estimation models and supporting regional teams in defining and documenting new product close operation processes

• Responsible for preparing the Company's global revenue consolidation reporting package for both senior accounting leadership and external auditors; including building new reporting to support multiple therapeutic areas, monthly and quarterly analytics to ensure accuracy and consistency of US GAAP and revenue policies across all regions

• Build partnerships with accounting, finance and commercial organizations across the regions leading the application of revenue accounting policies in support of consistent accounting treatment across regions and accurately stated product revenues and disclosures

• Responsible for managing royalty agreements including recording monthly royalty entry, reconciling balance on a monthly basis, managing external communication with royalty partners and ensuring royalty payments are accurate and processed timely

• Lead key new global revenue projects as a project manager to ensure global consistency for any new capabilities required to implement for scalability across the regional revenue accounting operations teams

• Responsible for organizing global revenue accounting forums including working with the revenue leadership team to create the agenda and coordinating the preparation of the presentation materials

• Assist with internal and external audit queries

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to build models to support gross to net estimates and tracking for month-end close process

• Strong analytical and financial skills to build and evaluate various accounting analyses

• Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills necessary for daily interaction with business partners and peers across Finance, Accounting and Accounting Senior Leadership team

• Ability to lead and drive change in a developing business environment and coordinate processes involving cross-functional teams, complex systems, and tight deadlines across multiple time zones

• Excellent organizational and project management skill with an established record in managing multiple and competing priorities

• Proficient in executive presentation skills

• Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)

• Professional attitude with a proactive and flexible approach

• A track record of success working in a team-based and highly matrixed organization

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting or Finance

• Typically requires 7 years experience in a commercial finance/accounting department and/or public accounting firm demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills or the equivalent combination of education and experience

• Revenue accounting or finance experience in a pharmaceutical or life science organization preferred
