Goodwill is currently looking for a Revenue Accountant to join our team!

The Revenue Accountant performs general routine accounting functions including but not limited to: journal entries, account analysis, bank reconciliations, monthly closing entries etc. Performs a variety of duties related to general accounting in the daily operation and month end closing. Reconciles bank and other assigned accounts. Makes expense related general ledger entries monthly.


Includes any of the following but other duties may be assigned as business needs require:

Grant Accounting

  • Processing and coding of accounts payable invoices for grants in grant tracking system

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly grant billings and reports for submission to funders and donors

  • Maintain organized grant files and ensure that grant expenses are posted correctly

  • Work with grant managers to review expenses and ensure that budgets are spent appropriately

Revenue Accounting

  • Posts daily bank activity to the general ledger which includes coding transactions to correct general ledger accounts and jobs for donor designated contributions

  • Assists with the monthly closing process; preparation of monthly closing journal entries including revenue, cash, various expense account analyses, and accruals as assigned

Accounts Receivable

  • Accounts Receivable (A/R) functions including processing and monitoring payments and expenditures

  • Keeps Accounts Receivables current and review terms regularly

  • Reconcile accounts receivable sub-ledger accounts monthly

Overall Accounting Support

  • Apply accounting policies and principles to properly record, report and maintain financial data

  • Develop and maintain updated desk procedures for assigned duties

  • Provide assistance and early warning of any general ledger, process or policy inconsistencies

  • Assist with special projects and perform other general accounting duties as assigned

  • Backup for Accounts Payable Specialist


  • BS/BA in Accounting or experienced equivalent-Preferred but not required.

  • Previous non-profit or government experience including knowledge of Federal OMB rules for allowable and unallowable costs HIGHLY DESIRABLE

  • At least three years' experience as an accountant or experienced equivalent with prior experience and responsibility for Accounts Receivable accounting cycles

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized with ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees

  • Proactive with excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution, and follow-through skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with heavy emphasis on Excel pivot tables

  • Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software and programs
