We are recognized as an industry leader for providing innovative outsourcing alternatives to single truck customers as well as large multi-location trucking fleets. In addition to in-shop services we also offer 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.
Initially, as a Retread Apprentice you will be trained in the inspection and grading process of revitalizing commercial truck tires using Michelin Retread methods. As you progress professionally, your compensation will increase through training and certification in different posts within the plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Examine and identify: injuries, crown defects, shoulders, sidewalls, beads, and inner linings of tires in accordance with Michelin standards.
Read and enter commands onto a computer screen in order to buff the appropriate amount of tread from a used tire casing.
Inspect internal aspects of a tire that are not visible to the eye for defects using an enhancing machine to compare screen results against standardized document pictures.
Inspect and operate pneumatic grinders with a probe and ruler to determine if the damage has exceeded the maximum specification.
Using post documents and pneumatic tools to prepare used tired for patching.
Examine, identify and operate the pneumatic rubber fill gun.
Enter tread size and design to a computer to create the appropriate tire casing.
Place a newly built tire in an envelope to prepare it for the curing process in a heated chamber.
Respond to fault warnings and follow through with corrective action in accordance with Michelin standards.
De-envelope the cured tire for the final stage of the retread process.
Complete final inspections.
Paint the tire to remove any unwanted markings.

Must be at least 18 years of age to be considered.
Education or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED -preferred not required.
Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
No prior tire experience required. Training provided.
Quality control experience a plus.
Basic computer knowledge

Ability to move large tires
While on the job, the employee will interact with moving mechanical parts and be exposed to airborne particles. The noise level and temperature inside of the plant can be high.
