The Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing various business-related functions throughout state government. Under the direction of Governor Rick Scott and DMS Executive Leadership Team, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, telecommunications, private prisons, and fleet and federal property assistance programs utilized throughout Floridas state government.
DMS is relied upon to establish, maintain and improve the business processes used by state employees to create a better, not bigger government.
DMS facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides tools and training to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of the states workforce. Position responsibilities:
Interpret and apply applicable laws, rules, and regulations necessary to refund employee contributions and pay accumulated Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) benefits. Verify processed retirement forms or other documents for refunds, DROP payouts, or insurance deduction authorizations.
Use retirement data to determine refund eligibility dates and prepare DROP termination information. Verify calculations and calculate retirement information.
Review and process retirement forms or other documents for refunds, DROP payouts, or insurance deduction authorizations.
Provide customer service by phone and personal interviews with members, employers, and other stakeholders. Verify that completed correspondence is complete, accurate, grammatically correct correspondence, and in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
May serve on committees and in workgroups to improve or maintain bureau or division wide administration of the retirement system.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of personal computer use (hardware and software) for various automated applications.
Knowledge of FRS Statutes and Rules.
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to retirement and IRS programs.
Ability to work independently.
This position requires sedentary work and repetitive motion.

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of professional experience in insurance, retirement or social security program, administrative, call center, fiscal work, statistics or personnel.
Experience in the areas described above or any combination of the above, can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college education.
