Job Description:

The Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System (IPERS) is looking to hire a Retirement Benefits Technician in the Special Service Death and Disability Bureau. This position's work space is located in the reception area of IPERS and is responsible for greeting visitors.

The Retirement Benefits Technician position requires attention to detail. Retirement Benefit Technicians review retirement benefit, death benefit and refund applications for completeness; provide quality assurance of daily scanning by comparing paper documents to scanned images; and is responsible for the data entry of beneficiary designation changes, address changes, and direct deposit changes.

This position will assist in the research of various databases to locate deceased members and beneficiaries; update IPERS records, and create/forward applicable documents to the appropriate staff for processing.

Finalists will be subject to a background check.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from high school or G.E.D. and two years of full time clerical office or closely related experience;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting (thirty semester hours) of accredited post high school education for each year of the required experience.

Work Hours Work hours To be available to our clients, the hours for this role aren't always traditional business hours. Our department is staffed to help callers Monday through Friday from 6:55 am - 9:10pm. If you're interested in this role, you'll need to be flexible and available for shifts during these hours to meet customer needs.
