Retail Sales Associate - Resale Store

General summary: Assist with the daily activities of the Resale Shop operations & provide supervision and job coaching services to clients assigned to work at resale store.

Principle duties and responsibilities: Ensure a clean, orderly, organized and safe working and shopping environment at all times. Perform work in a safe manner in accordance to policy, procedure, CARF standards and MIOSHA.

Report safety concerns in writing upon discovery to the safety manager. Demonstrate and promote superior customer service. Handle all complaints in a professional, fair and impartial manner.

Provide supervision and job skill training to clients, in the areas of cashiering, receiving, sorting, cleaning and pricing, hanging and displaying miscellaneous items and complete all required documentation for clients. Assist in maintaining scheduled rotation of merchandise. Perform opening/closing functions of the store as assigned.

Accept donations in accordance with policy and procedure. Watch for and recognize safety, security risks and thefts. Complete all required training and updates with Bergmann Center as well as North Country Community Mental Health. (Toolbox, CPR, first aid, recipient rights, gentle teaching, etc.) Maintain and safeguard the confidentiality of all clients.

Must be able to work Saturdays. Ability to greet all customers in a courteous, polite and helpful manner. Ability to give direction and supervise clients and volunteers.

Ability to keep volunteers and clients busy and feeling engaged. Ability to count back money to customers quickly and accurately and balance cash register draws. Utilize computer for researching recalls, pricing items and email Participate in Fundraising Activities.

Answer phone and assist customers, clients and volunteers as needed. Implement and make decisions based on policies, procedures and practices Be committed to the mission and purpose of the Bergmann Center and Resale Shop and committed to following the Bergmann Center, Inc. code of ethics. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required: High school graduate with a minimum of one-year cashier and supervisory experience in retail sales and/or customer service. Experience working with adults with mental and physical challenges preferred, but not a requirement.

Operate a cash register, credit card machine, adding machine, calculator, copier, printer, computer, and phone. Meet physical requirements for position which include; bending, reaching, lifting, dragging and carrying over 25 pounds on a daily basis, standing on concrete up to 8 hours a day. Good time management and organizational skills.

Attention to detail and quality and setting priorities. Have reliable transportation. Travel and complete all training, as required.

Work with others as a team and display positive attitude. Ability to accept constructive criticism. Dependable and maintain good attendance record.

Display a professional, patient, understanding and a positive attitude in all situations. Must have adequate coping and problem solving skills. Work and follow through on assignments independently.

Ability to teach, train, coach and motivate others in a positive and professional manner. Emotionally stable and mature. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Ability to pass background check and drug test.
