What You Can Expect
As a Retail Power Portfolio Senior Advisor in Houston, you will be directly accountable to deliver expected gross margin originated from retail contract sales, focusing on PJM and MISO deregulated power regions. You will own all aspects of Profit & Loss (P&L) related to your retail power book, including detailed explanation of delivery month actuals, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA's), forward book Market to Market (MTM) changes, and budget planning. You will be responsible for identifying risks, recommending hedge strategies, and taking direct action to hedge and manage all price and volume risk exposures inherit in retail power business. In collaboration with other key members of the Portfolio Management Team, you will share responsibility in formulating forward price curves for all Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) components of full- requirements products and continuous calibration of costing assumptions to ensure ENGIE remains competitive in retail space and share accountability to meet Sales goals. You will also interact with other internal teams to meet Engie Resources' objectives, including Sales, Business Development, Origination, Trading, Operations, Risk Management, Marketing, and Digital teams.
Trade financial and physical instruments for Energy, Capacity, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Ancillaries, Firm Transmission Rights (FTRs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Power Options, and Weather derivatives in support of retail business
Validate load forecasts and oversee day-ahead demand bid schedules
Produce and reconcile daily Net Open Position (NOP) and MTM reports
Aggregate revenue and cost data to measure portfolio profitability
Contribute to daily formulation and regular calibration of forward price curves for Energy, Capacity, Ancillary Services, Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS), Network Integration Transmission Service (NITS), and all other cost components of full-requirements electricity products
Manage the price and volume risks associated with serving retail power load with various contractual obligations, i.e. fixed price, index, or hybrid
Research complex business problems and identify opportunities to design, develop, and propose actionable solutions in support of pricing, portfolio management, and margin analysis activities
Coordinate with various functional groups to review and validate customer revenue and ISO settlement data to gain insights into portfolio profitability
Provide insight into the drivers of portfolio Profit & Loss from budget development through final settlement
Follow and comply with industry specifications, standards, regulations, and laws
Research and produce ad-hoc analysis on market fundamentals, risk exposure, customer load characteristics, various cost components and regulatory issues to enhance competitiveness, optimize risk exposure, and optimize the profitability of the portfolio
Prepare and present market fundamentals presentations to internal and external customers
Participate in conference calls in support of Sales efforts with end-user customers, brokers, and other partners
Contribute to the development and enhancement of models and system platforms in support of costing and portfolio management activities
Support new product development activities through coordination with various internal functional groups
Operate as a team member with all employees of ENGIE North America staff
Comply with all ENGIE North America policies and procedures
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in which you completed courses in a quantitative discipline majors in Business, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics or Computer Science
Minimum of 10 years work-related experience
Retail power portfolio management experience and expertise in full requirements cost components, with emphasis on PJM and MISO preferred
Problem solving, strong analytical and statistical skills and ability to convey complex technical analysis to a broader audience including senior leadership
Understanding of energy market fundamentals, including customer usage properties and pricing methodologies
Understanding of options and hedging practices to manage retail power shape and swing risk
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong knowledge and proficiency of MS Excel
Experience in extraction, transformation, and management of large quantities of data using such tools as VBA, SQL, Microsoft Power BI
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
High level of attention to detail
Ability to think logically and with clear reasoning
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage stressful situations

Compensation
Salary Range: $128,400 - $196,765 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
