The Retail Paint Sales Consultant is charged with responsibility for increasing overall paint sales with True Value, specifically with their applicable key accounts in the West Region (Alaska, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon and Washington). This will be accomplished through a combination of increasing cold calling, prospecting and developing new accounts. The Retail Paint Sales Consultant and True Value internal contacts will work together to increase the number of retailers with a viable paint department. Additional responsibilities include assisting retailers with increasing paint department profitability by actively promoting sales and marketing initiatives.
As such they will encourage periodic price-checking, timely inventory evaluations and refreshed merchandising implementation to help combat competitive pressures. Responsible for generating revenue and profit. The Retail Paint Sales Consultant can reside in the following areas:Los Angeles, California or surrounding area
Eugene, Oregon or surrounding area
Seattle, Washington or surrounding area
Salt Lake City, Utah or surrounding area
Las Vegas, Nevada or surrounding area
Work closely with predetermined group of retailers and internal partners interested and willing to develop additional paint department sales by supporting more aggressive in-store exposure as well as participating in external sales development. This will encompass supporting training and empowering dedicated personnel to be effective in outside sales calls to end-users.
In order to participate, the retailers must make competitive wholesale pricing available, have sufficient and correct inventory and have competent in-store personnel for follow-up. This task specifically involves working with specified retailers in providing training to staff and guidance on inventory levels as well as assisting when requested in making outside sales calls. The Retail Paint Sales Consultants (by virtue of their experience) will play a key role in developing prospect target lists.
Driving new sales will be accomplished by the development of in-store demonstrations, comprehensive training programs, in-store seminars, optimizing merchandising opportunities and creating enthusiasm with store staff.Maintain relationships with key paint retailers by providing guidance on promotional programs and providing training to personnel on paint selling and paint merchandising. Also includes being a liaison between True Value Marketing and the customer. Increase organic sales by increasing the number of participating paint outlets.
A prospect list of targeted key retailers will be developed taking into account potential, enthusiasm for developing paint sales, and quality of personnel for follow-up activities. This list will be prepared in conjunction with National Sales Manager and Retail Consultants (Sales Professionals).Coordinate and align activities (including specific sales targets) with Tele-marketing support representatives.
Minimum Type and Years of Related Experience Required:Five to seven years of related experience required
Paint and Paint Sundry Products Technical Knowledge required. Expert at paint technical advising
Experienced at delivering paint training
Very strong prospecting/code calling skills required
Experience working in retail required
Manufacturing, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Wholesale experience necessary
Comfortable at making presentations
Travel 70%Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
