District Manager - role is similar to an innovative business entrepreneur and owner, with special emphases on comp sales, used sales, talent retention, trades, guest experience, and loss prevention. Within GameStop's broadly defined parameters, District Leaders have the autonomy, authority, and responsibility to inspire outstanding business results through others as the leaders of their district's performance development strategy.

Store Manager - directly influences the performance of everyone who interacts with guests and supports a solution selling environment. The Store Leader is responsible for fostering a selling culture that creates unique, complete solutions that exceed guest's expectations. The Store Leader ensures best-in-class guest service for every GameStop guest by using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Circle of Life. The Store Leader makes discretionary decisions involving all sales initiatives, operational effectiveness, marketing, scheduling, employment, and all other aspects of the day-to-day business processes of a GameStop store, which will demonstrate the commitment to a unique solutions selling experience for all guests.

Job Requirements

Qualified District Manager candidates will possess the following:

  • 3 years of successful, related experience as a multi-unit leader required

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science from a regionally accredited college or university in a related field of study, such as business administration, is required, although equivalent experience may be accepted as a substitute

  • Proven ability to work productively with others, welcome and adapt well to change, communicate thoughts and feelings effectively, and receive and respond to feedback from others maturely

Travel Requirements:

60 to 70% with occasional overnight stays.

Qualified Store Manager candidates will possess the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and present state-required proof of age documents

  • Must be able to provide genuine and friendly assistance to every guest during every visit

  • High school diploma or GED required; An Associate's or accredited Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred

  • Three or more years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management/leadership experience required; at least 1 year of retail management experience preferred

  • Must be able to work alone and move throughout the store unassisted, for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day)

  • Must be able to lift and/or move objects and displays (up to 30 lbs.), bend, stoop, reach with arms and hands, and climb on ladders

  • Must be able to occasionally travel unassisted via car and/or plane to offsite conferences and meetings (less than 10%)

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 44 hours per week

May be assigned to various units within the Hampton Police Division. Examples of Work * Patrols an assigned district within the City of Hampton using a patrol car or on foot to prevent crime or disturbance of peace and arrest violators. Familiarizes self with housing, businesses and persons within the district. Notices suspicious persons and unusual conditions and makes preliminary investigations. Examines premises of unoccupied buildings and checks doors and windows for security. Reports hazards that endanger public safety such as malfunctioning traffic signals, damaged utility structures, etc. * Acknowledges radio transmissions relaying citizens complaints and proceeds to location. Answers complaints from citizens such as domestic quarrels, fights, vandalism, etc., then takes necessary corrective action. Investigates missing persons and watches for runaways and truants. Watches for and makes recovery of lost and stolen property and vehicles. Disperses unruly crowds at public gatherings. Inspects public establishments requiring licenses and ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations. * Serves warrants and summons. Arrests violators for misdemeanors and felonies. Accompanies prisoners to headquarters or jail, and makes report of events leading to and surrounding arrest. Confers with Commonwealth Attorney to coordinate courtroom testimony. Appears in court as arresting officer. * Investigates traffic accidents and renders first aid to injured. Directs and re routes traffic around accidents or other disruptions. Issues tickets to traffic violators. Checks abandoned vehicles and calls for tow truck. Provide, escort for funerals, parades and shipment of currency. Transports emergency blood vials from hospital to hospital. * Provides public with general information on laws, ordinances, and services of the City and State. Provides directions to lost persons and motorists. Renders aid to persons locked out of home or vehicle. Ascertains information from citizens to aid in investigation of crime. * May be assigned to various units within the Division including Crime Prevention, Training, Administration, Investigations, and Special Investigations Unit (SIU). Learns the purpose and operation of assigned unit. Assists senior officers in completion of unit's official duties and responsibilities. During an assigned shift, may maintain a limited caseload of investigations, as needed. * Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited high school course of study or successful completion of a GED; college level course work in Police Science or related field of study preferred; ability to be courteous yet firm with the public; must be alert, and possess ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions; good skills of observation and memory; excellent moral character; good physical condition. Must pass City physical examination, background investigation (to include polygraph examination), and physical agility examination; must be at least twenty (20) years of age at time of application. Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and must have a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Must be able to communicate the English language verbally as well as in writing. Features Entry level position. Requires attendance at Police Academy and period of probationary status prior to permanent appointment. Upon successful completion of Police Training Academy and all certifications required by Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services incumbent shall be administratively upgraded to the position of Police Officer with an annual salary of $43,297.00 and shall receive a sign on bonus of $2000.00. Receives supervision through specific instructions and daily evaluations by a senior officer, usually a Corporal or Sergeant. This may involve an element of personal danger during the arrest of persons who violate city ordinances and state laws. May be rotated to other Patrol Officer positions within the Police Department.
