We are now hiring for Retail Garden Center Sales Associate at both of our Lafayette and West Lafayette locations! Ace Hardware has been rooted in the Greater Lafayette, Indiana community and has been a locally-owned, family run business since 1936.

Today, the Lafayette and West Lafayette Ace Hardware stores are owned by the third generation of family run Ace Hardware Retailers. The original Ace Hardware location was located on Main Street in downtown Lafayette. The West Lafayette location was opened in 1985 to better serve the West Lafayette Community.

In 2002 we opened the newest Lafayette location on Beck Lane. We are proud to continue providing the great customer service and convenience our customers have come to expect. We are currently hiring Retail Garden Sales Associates for our 16,000 sq ft garden center in Lafayette and our 9,000 sq ft garden center in West Lafayette.

We are looking for personable and outgoing individuals to join our family owned business. As a Retail Garden Center Associate the primary responsibilities are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, maintain and merchandise garden product, and support the garden center management team when on the sales floor, and process sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently, and maintain cash register operations when cashiering. Major Responsibilities While on the Garden Sales Floor The major responsibilities for this position include: · We pride ourselves on our outstanding customer service, and Retail Garden Sales Associates must provide exceptional customer service our customers have come to expect. · Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements · Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by the garden center management · Aid customers in locating merchandising in the garden center · Lead associate team to accomplish store goals · Actively participate in daily huddle meetings · Responsible for unloading plant deliveries and restocking plants, watering, and maintenance of plant material, and maintaining a clean garden center. · Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures and policies Major Responsibilities While Cashiering in the Garden Center The major responsibilities for this position include: · We pride ourselves on our outstanding customer service, and Retail Garden Sales Associates must provide exceptional customer service our customers have come to expect. · Greet customers as they enter the Garden Store · Answer phone calls · Tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers · Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements · Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers · Maintain orderly appearance of register area and supplies stocked · Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management · Actively maintain customer awareness of the benefits of the Ace Rewards Program · Issuing receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers Minimum Requirements The minimum requirements for this position include: · Posses a willingness to learn product knowledge of plant and garden related products · Experience in a retail or garden center environment preferred but not required · Skills/Knowledge: Strong leadership and analytical skills · Excellent customer service skills · Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations · Strong problem-solving and organizational skills · Ability to handle multiple projects and task with a high attention to detail · Exceptional organizational ability, and high attention to detail · Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus. · Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business Physical Requirements The minimum physical requirements for this position include: · Ability to stand for an extended period of time · Unload and merchandise plant material throughout the garden center, which entails lifting · Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.
