VISTA Assignment Objectives
Evaluate and build the capacity of the Retail Donation Program to rescue more perishable food items from area retailers by researching opportunities within existing partnerships and identifying potential for new partnerships. Research how retail food moves throughout our organization to highlight under-served areas of our service territory to ensure equitable distribution and access to our clients. Develop new informational materials on food donation and retailer donation partnerships and standardize the training process for new enabled agencies and new retail partners.
Collect quantitative and qualitative data on the current capacity of the Food Bank and its enabled agencies
to rescue and distribute more perishable and nutritious food. This will be done through reporting and
capacity assessments. This will help us evaluate and prioritize the gaps and opportunity within the
Receive training from Account Coordinator on the Retail Donation Program including the flow of retail food, the specific retail donation programs, and the on-boarding process for enabled agencies.

Build a report that collects information about the food being rescued from the Food Bank and enabled agencies.
Work with the Operations team to identify top reasons for missed pickups at retail partners.
Contact and work with enabled agencies to identify barriers to pickups at retail partners.
Run reports on the product mix of retail donations to identify opportunity to increase food donations at existing retail partners.
Create SOP for reporting and train key Food Resources members on how to run and read the report
Prepare a summary of findings for Food Bank's and enabled agencies' reports
Present recommendations to Food Resources and Operations teams.
