Overview

The Restaurant General Manager is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and directing all restaurant operations in Ovide while maintaining a profitable department and high-quality products and service levels. He/she is expected to market ideas to promote business; reduce employee turnover; maintain revenue and payroll budgets and meet budgeted productivity while keeping quality consistently high in Ovide Restaurant.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all day-to-day operations in Ovide Restaurant and meeting all expectations of Brand Standards and elevating the level of service.

  • Work directly with the Director of Operations to increase revenues and implement new ideas throughout the restaurant through activations.

  • Supervise all F&B personnel in Ovide.

  • Respond to guest complaints promptly.

  • Prepare the F&B budget for Ovide and monitor department performance concerning the same. Perform any necessary follow-up, including forecasting.

  • Monitor industry trends and take appropriate action to maintain competitive and profitable operations.

  • Work with other F&B Managers and Executive Leadership Team and keep them informed of F&B issues as they arise.

  • Respond/execute to guest inquiries for Special Events in Ovide.

  • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of Ovide Beverage Program.

  • Prepare and submit required daily EOD reports promptly.

  • Responsible for collecting and inputting all Ovide's team members tips/gratuities in ADP TimeSaver weekly.

  • Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll for Ovide and following proper payroll procedures.

  • Organize and conduct department meetings regularly.

  • Monitor quality of service and product.

  • Provide effective leadership to hotel team members.

  • Cooperate in menu planning and preparation with Executive Chef.

  • Ensure timely purchase of F&B items, within budget allocation.

  • Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, and health and sanitation regulations.

  • Create and develop F&B SOP's and ensure compliance.

  • Ensure the training of F&B managers on SOPs, report preparation, and technical job tasks.

  • Attend and/or conduct departmental and hotel training, etc.

  • Interview candidates for front-of-house F&B positions and follow standards for hiring approvals.

  • Conduct and/or attend all required meetings.

Qualifications

  • Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets, and word processing.

  • Previous knowledge with IG (InfoGenesis) highly preferred.

  • Must know F&B preparation techniques, health department rules, and regulations, liquor laws, and regulations.

  • Long hours are sometimes required.

  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.

  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.

  • Attend all hotel-required meetings and training.

  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the hotel's needs.

  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the required uniforms.

  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.

  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of information.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

  • Always maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.

Education and Experience:

  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 4-year college degree and at least 3 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 4 or more years of related experience.
