The School of Social and Family Dynamics has an opportunity for a Post Award Research Advancement Administrator. Operating under the general direction of Research Advancement Lead, the Research Advancement Administrator will assist faculty with day to day post-award accounting tasks for sponsored research projects. However, during high volume deadlines this position may assist with pre-award functions such as sponsored project proposal preparation and submission.

Working Environment

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field. Three years of experience in a field appropriate to the area/unit of assignment OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in preparing detailed documents, proposals, reports, and/or related materials.

Essential Duties

  • Manages awarded projects in accordance with University and sponsor regulations.

  • Prepares standard and nonstandard accounting reports for ASU research investigators.

  • Works in conjunction with Office for Research and Sponsored Projects Administration (ORSPA) and ASU research investigator to ensure timely and accurate post-award accounting of grants and contracts; reviews reconciliation of accounts for compliance of charges in accordance with sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements.

  • Works as an administrative resource to ASU research investigators, providing assistance, guidance and counsel during management, to verify and ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and financial compliance requirements.

  • Works as an administrative resource to ASU research investigators and ORSPA staff to resolve problems and correct errors in fund management to ensure timely collection of revenue through accurate presentation of invoices.

  • Maintains all applicable project records and files; decides proper handling of financial transactions; approves transactions within designated limits.

  • Assists ASU research investigators with renewals and periodic reports for grant agencies.

  • Provides guidance to research investigators and departmental business staff on Sponsor policies and regulations regarding the administration of award funds, monitors compliance issues and assist in resolution, account close out.

  • Provides guidance and assistance in preparing administrative post award management including At-Risks, Pre-Award Costs, re-budgets, and No Cost Extensions.

  • Analyzes, reconciles, and reports financial information on existing sponsored and program accounts; forecasts account to avoid deficits and resolve residual balances, and gathers and analyzes information from the Enterprise Research Administration (ERA), Workday and other sources for customized detail and summary reports.

  • Independently or in coordination with a student worker, processes sponsored project transactions in Workday, such as expense reports, purchase orders, requisitions, and journals

  • Coordinates with PI's and others to route travel request and expense reports using the Concur travel system.

  • Responds to inquiries in a timely manner using effective interpersonal communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and methods as appropriate to address questions and/or concerns.

  • Works under deadlines, manages multiple responsibilities and duties, with interruptions, and in unclear and/or changing situations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
