Responsible Materials Sourcing Program Leader
To provide global leadership, technical direction, and operational compliance of our Forests & Fiber sustainability program as well as provide counsel in support of K-C's Brand certification initiatives. A focus on responsible sourcing of forest & fiber-based materials as well as agricultural and natural resource-based materials will contribute to K-C's overall business strategy and help to achieve long-term growth objectives while increasing supply chain resiliency.
Kimberly-Clark's Forests & Fiber program assures K-C's external leadership position with respect to responsible sourcing of virgin fiber, recycled fiber and sustainable alternative fibers and ongoing advocacy for development of sustainable forestry practices.
Kimberly-Clark's Responsible Supply Chain program seeks to increase supply chain resiliency by assuring purchased materials, goods and services meet K-C and global standards for social and environmental responsibility from source to shelf.
Provides leadership, strategic direction and technical expertise to ensure excellence in, expansion of, and increased impact from, Forests & Fiber initiatives. (e.g.: sourcing of certified sustainable virgin fiber, development of sustainable alternative fibers, expansion of sustainable forest management practices)
Provides the above in relation to fiber-based packaging and contract manufactured goods, including (but not limited to) corrugate, carton, tissue base rolls and finished goods.
Provides the above through the application of mechanisms that apply to sourcing of other raw materials (e.g. cotton, chemicals and other agricultural or natural resource-based materials.)
Provides the above in relation to engagement with Environmental Non-Governmental Organizations (ENGOs) on issues relating to scope and accountabilities.
Explores, develops and drives Forests & Fiber programs that extend Kimberly-Clark's leadership through advocacy and multi-stakeholder initiatives addressing sustainable forest management practices, promotion of restoration and regeneration of forests and creating social impact.
Works with K-C Foundation, Communications, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain and other leadership teams to develop strategies and programs, and works with local teams to deliver them.
Monitors and benchmarks standards by networking with multi-national companies, industry groups, certification bodies, governments and non-governmental organizations to understand developing Forest Management and responsible sourcing issues.
Continuously improve & maintain company-wide Forests & Fiber procurement and certification systems, fiber data reporting systems and processes, supplier risk management, external-facing content and reporting.
Provide supplier, country, forest, ENGO and issue analysis and support to global business stakeholder teams.
Maintain and continuously improve process for assuring procurement and supplier compliance and conformance with Fiber Procurement Policy requirements.
Manage risk mitigation and remediation process for raw material sourcing to ensure ongoing responsible sourcing of raw materials, including virgin, recycled and alternative fiber-based materials and products.
Scope and dimensions:
The main challenge for this position is to both protect global Kimberly-Clark brands & extend corporate leadership in its external raw material supply chain as well as enable differentiation through industry leadership in advocacy and development of responsible sourcing principles and practices.
Position will assure responsible, certified sourcing of more than 3 million metric tons of virgin, recycled and sustainable alternative fiber purchases.
Position provides the above with respect to purchases of fiber based packaging and contract manufactured goods.
Position provides the above with respect to other responsibly sourced raw materials. (e.g. cotton, chemicals, etc.)
Position provides Forests & Fiber program leadership for K-C at a global level.
The position must work with, influence and provide leadership to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to meet K-C's objectives in the area of Forests & Fiber and responsible sourcing of raw materials and packaging.
The incumbent provides subject matter expertise and capability to implement certification programs in the area of forest management certification, procurement certification and product certification (e.g. chain-of-custody, mass balance and book-and-claim systems, including FSC, RSPO and others).
The position must provide oversight and guidance to the business units operating in global regions with the objective of assuring responsible sourcing of fiber-based materials through the program activation and Compliance activities.
The incumbent reports to the Associate Director for Responsible Supply Chain.

This position requires knowledge and ability typically associated with a bachelor's degree in a supply chain function, technical function or marketing function, but has related social and environmental sustainability experience.
Experience with the coordination and management of strategic sustainability-related programs with a view for generating business value.
Deep knowledge of the various areas related to Sustainable Forest Management, Certification approaches and implementation and Sustainable Procurement
This level of knowledge is normally found in an individual with at least 10-15 years of experience in a sustainability/corporate social responsibility or compliance-related field, typically in support of a manufacturing, Consumer Packaged Goods or Packaging Products company or Forest Products discipline.
