EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in a social services field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Must have at least three years of direct experience with children and families in either a job related or volunteer capacity
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrated compliance with agency and regulatory mandates; the ability to work with persons from various ethnic backgrounds, with particular emphasis in working with families of African American heritage; ability to navigate and input data into the Key Information Demographics System; proficient in Microsoft office and Outlook; Knowledge of Department of Public Welfare foster care guidelines a plus; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must possess excellent case management skills; must have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other service providers; must have crisis intervention skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit internally and external for appropriate emergency care support homes/respite homes that meet the diverse needs of children/youth serviced by ASCI inclusive of children with special needs, sibling sets, adolescent males and females, and children with mental health diagnosis.
Ability to screen prospective respite parents to determine if they meet DPW regulatory requirements
Complete home visits to screen the home/family, coordinate Orientation and trainings.
Assign contractor or staff to complete certification
Participate in Certifying/recertifying caregivers to be utilized for the POC respite program and emergency care support homes
Maintain tracking of phone screenings, completed trainings, and completion of certifications. Utilizing of tracking to complete monthly outcomes/PBC goals
Attending recruitment events, community events, etc.
Provide ongoing monitoring of all certified respite homes to ensure they remain in compliance and viable for respite usage
Serve on the team who identify respite homes during crisis when needed for the POC program, Kinship Navigator Department, and emergency county requests
Serve on the team who assist in placing children in identified respite homes and conduct an initial home visit within 24 hours of the child being placed and weekly ongoing visits to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child
Assist the respite parent(s) with maintaining scheduled doctor appointments, scheduled visitations, and school attendance for the child(ren) in their care; by ensuring transportation needs are met. Assist birth parent(s), respite parent(s) and child(ren) serviced through A Second Chance, Inc. with referrals/access to the available resources with ASCI (clothing bank/New Directions support groups) and resources/services in the community
Interface with all providers for the purpose of planning meeting
Responsible for maintaining a database of substitute caregivers and will oversee/assist in certifying substitute caregiver homes
Provide On-call Services
Other duties as assigned

Valid driver's license; registered and insured vehicle
