JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will partner as part of a collaborative team in a thriving culture of learning and advancement, leveraging various scientific principles, therapies, and techniques to optimize patient care and outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Performs and directs the administration of respiratory care services (including but not limited to oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medication, airway clearance, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and bedside spirometry), in collaboration with attending physician and care team. Care is administered in a quality manner of excellence that is in accordance with established procedures. Administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergency situations.

  • Adheres to established policies including but not limited to: infection control and isolation policies, HIPAA, time and attendance, and social media.

  • Performs willingly and professionally with peers and patients to maintain the very best work environment and outcomes.

  • Embraces the autonomy to grow and enhance skills such that professional and technical requirements are accomplished.

  • Focuses on continuous quality improvement in all of aspects of clinical care, identifying, executing, and sharing opportunities to improve patient care.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • General understanding of Respiratory Care modalities, therapies, equipment and medications.

  • Able to read, write and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • General computer skills, including but not limited to: typing, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand held scanning and email.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION

Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.

Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP): Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).

Registered Respiratory Therapi (RRT): Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board Respiratory Care.

Our location in Fort Worth provides convenient care to the residents of Fort Worth and the surrounding areas.</p><p>Here's What You Need</p><ul><li>Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program is required</li><li>1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience is required</li><li>1 year of Med/Surg or critical care experience is preferred</li></ul><p>Required Certifications/Licenses:</p><ul><li><p>Respiratory Care Practitioner</p></li><li><p>Registered Respiratory Therapist</p></li><li><p>BCLS</p></li><li><p>ACLS</p></li><li><p>Neonatal Resuscitation Program</p></li></ul><p>Skills</p><ul><li><p>Good verbal communications</p></li><li><p>Good interpersonal skills</p></li><li><p>Computer experience</p></li></ul><p>What You Will Do</p><p>Patient Assessment/Plan of Care</p><p>Obtains/verifies physician order for therapy and validate for appropriateness.</p><p>Reviews available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from patient or family.</p><p>Evaluates each patient using age and diagnosis appropriate assessment tests and measurements.</p><p>Applies appropriate patient care interventions according to protocol guidelines and priority of care.</p><p>Demonstrates competence in the performance of age appropriate patient assessment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.</p><p>Patient Treatment</p><p>Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.</p><p>Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.</p><p>Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely.</p><p>Determine patient response to treatment and evaluate progress (reassessment).</p><p>Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, and home programs/self management.</p><p>Maintain bedside and ventilator alarms in audible position.</p><p>Maintains patient safety throughout treatment.</p><p>Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues.</p><p>Demonstrates competence in the performance of age appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.</p><p>Administers medication in a safe/correct manner, adhering to medication administration guidelines.
