RESPIRATORY THERAPIST (RT)

Critical Illness Recovery Hospital

At Select Specialty/ Regency Hospital, a division of Select Medical,our specialty hospitals care for chronically and critically ill or post-ICU patients who require extended hospital care. We are currently seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our team. We offer an excellent network of career opportunities across the U.S.

Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapist (RT), you will provide quality patient care as a member of the Respiratory Team, develop and ensure the patient plan of care collaboration with physicians, registered nurses, therapists, PT/OT/SLP therapists and nursing assistants.

Other responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist (RT) position include:

  • Evaluating patient and recommends a treatment plan

  • Providing respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions

  • Performing insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes

  • Performing timely and accurate documentation

  • Promoting continuous quality improvement

  • Teaching and counseling patients/families

Qualifications

As a Respiratory Therapist (RT), you must be able to deliver superior quality in all that you do. We are seeking results-driven team players who treat patients as if they were their own family members. Qualified candidates must be passionate about providing a superior quality of care. You must also be a resourceful problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Other requirements of the Respiratory Therapist (RT) role include:

  • Graduate of a respiratory care program

  • Current licensure to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the state

  • Being a Registered Respiratory Therapist

  • Current BLS

  • ACLS to be obtained within 6 months of hire

  • Critical Care experience in a hospital setting is a plus!

  • Positive, caring and customer-service-oriented attitude

Responsibilities The Registered Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate-and-treat process. The RRT 2 is responsible for delivering patient care in complex, multiple problem-patient care situations. The majority of time is in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision-making and selfdirection. In addition, to patient care delivery, the RRT is responsible for patient, family/support system education, coordination of activities, staff development, and professional and self-developmental activities. The RRT 2 is responsible for providing patient care with an understanding and awareness of population specific needs. The RRT 2 addresses the biological, emotional, and developmental, psychosocial, and patient/family education needs when providing care to the patient. Also participates in the education of new employees and others. Performance of this job will also require a close working relationship with the Medical staff and Respiratory Care Leadership. Qualifications Required Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science (B.S. degree preferred). Required Minimum Licensure: NBRC credential as an advanced level RRT Respiratory Care Professional and holds an active GA Respiratory Care Professional License. Required Minimum Experience: NRP/PALS preferred; WHH-LTAC requires 3yrs experience of ventilator management, 5yrs preferred Required Minimum Skills: Ability to communicate well, critical thinking skills, establish and maintain working relations with physicians and other health care personnel, and computer skills including familiarity with databases.
