Respiratory Therapists Needed for Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital
Schedule: 36 hours.
Shift: Night shift, 7 pm

Perform activities in diagnostic evaluation, therapy, life-sustaining techniques, and education of patients and families of all age groups, neonatal to geriatric. Require a high level of expertise in ventilator management and sophisticated diagnostic procedures.
Responsibilities
Perform respiratory procedures per established guidelines.
Airway management, tracheostomy tube care, and assessment of patients for downsizing the trach tubes, use of speaking valves, capping, and decannulation.
Weaning from mechanical ventilation.
Hospital-to-home ventilator DC teaching
Hospital-to-home tracheostomy DC teaching
High Flow Oxygen Therapy.
Pulmonary Function Testing
Perform emergency re-cannulation and routine tracheostomy tube changes.
Initiation and monitoring of non-invasive ventilation, CPAP, and Bi-PAP therapy.
Analyze blood samples in the POC lab.
Bronchoscopy assistance with a pulmonologist.
Assists with ENT Clinic upper airway airway assessment.
Clinical assessment is completed for all age groups, including breathing patterns, ABG interpretation, CSR, pulmonary waveforms, and other non-invasive monitoring.
The patient's clinical condition report, including the critical care plan, is communicated effectively.
Respiratory therapy consultation and support are provided to other healthcare team members.
Documentation and billing are completed per EMR policy.
Respiratory devices and interventions are maintained per manufacturer and department guidelines.
Clinical resource support is provided daily for respiratory staff and the facility.
Education/Degree
Required
Licensure
Required
Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Current Massachusetts Respiratory Care License.
Skills (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.)
Required
Basic and advanced respiratory skills.
BLS certified.
Computer proficiency is required-Microsoft Office applications preferred, with the ability to learn new software.
Maintain variable work schedule to meet department needs. (evenings, holidays, weekends, and travel).
Preferred
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, working with diverse populations.
Work independently, be self-directed, and contribute as a team member.
Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.
